Loving Others With Christ-like Love

Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.  If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.

—Galatians 6:2-3 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Don’t allow me to get so caught up in myself that I neglect my responsibility to obey the law of loving others with Christ-like love—actively looking for ways to help them.

By Your Spirit, show me how best to help bear others’ burdens, in order that they would be encouraged and their load of care would be lightened—and that in helping I might experience the blessing of joy that comes when I am faithful to love as Christ loves.

Keep me from fooling myself into thinking that I am something that I am not—that I am somehow too special or too important to help others, anytime those opportunities present themselves.

And remind me, when I start to become too self-focused, that Jesus, Himself, wasn’t too important to stop to help others—and most assuredly, I am not that important!

Don’t allow me to get so caught up in myself that I neglect my responsibility to obey the law of loving others with Christ-like love—actively looking for ways to help them.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Let Your Soul Delight Itself In Abundance

Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight itself in abundance.

—Isaiah 55:2 (NKJV)

Heavenly Father,

Help me not to spend my money and my time chasing after that which does not satisfy the hunger of my soul—when You have invited me to let my soul freely delight in the abundance that You have prepared for me.

Help me to listen carefully and expectantly to You—as You speak to me through Your Word and by Your Spirit—that I would not only hear what You would say, but also apply Your Truth to my life by faith.

For only then can I both receive the promise of everlasting life, and fully live now in the abundance of peace and joy, provision and strength, and protection and safety that You provide in this life for those that follow You.

Make my life so much more than what I consume with my physical body—and help me to feed my spirit on Your Truth and Grace—for only then will the deepest longings of my soul be satisfied in abundance.

Help me not to spend my money and my time chasing after that which does not satisfy the hunger of my soul—when You have invited me to let my soul freely delight in the abundance that You have prepared for me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

The Work Of Righteousness

The work of righteousness will be peace,
And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.

—Isaiah 32:17 (NKJV)

LORD, My Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the blessing of righteousness that has been given to me, because Christ has come to dwell within my heart—for the work of peace that it is within me and for the quietness and assurance that it brings to me, forevermore!

Thank You that the redemptive work that has brought me into right-standing with You is a work of peace—a peace beyond my ability to comprehend.

Thank You that the effect of righteousness—that work of peace within me—is quietness and assurance forever.

Thank You that as I abide in the quietness of Your peace, my spirit is open to hear You speaking to my heart—as Your Spirit guides me in each moment of my walk with You here on earth.

Thank You that I have a blessed assurance—because of Your work of peace within me—which gives me an eternal hope in You.

Thank You for the blessing of righteousness that has been given to me, because Christ has come to dwell within my heart—for the work of peace that it is within me and for the quietness and assurance that it brings to me, forevermore!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
