Gifting My Burdens to God

Give your burdens to the LORD,

and he will take care of you.

He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

Psalm 55:22 (NLT)

Loving LORD,

Keep me from dishonoring You by trying to carry my own burdens—when You are right here with me, waiting to carry them for me, wanting to take care of my every need, and well able to keep me, in every possible way, from slipping and falling.

Help me truly turn over every care and concern that burdens my heart to You—not merely saying with my mouth that I trust You, when it is evident, by the lack of peace in my heart, that I have not.

Help me to continue in trusting You so that when I give You my burdens, I don’t turn around and try to take them back from You—so I don’t try to carry things I was never intended to carry!

Help me to understand that when I give You my burdens, I am giving You a gift of my faith, showing that I believe You are well able to carry my heaviest burdens, and use all things together for Your glory and for my good.

Keep me from dishonoring You by trying to carry my own burdens—when You are right here with me, waiting to carry them for me, wanting to take care of my every need, and well able to keep me, in every possible way, from slipping and falling.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Help me to believe that just as You are faithful to sustain me each and every day—giving me exactly what I need to accomplish Your will and purpose for me—You are also well able to carry my heaviest burden, so that I do not have to slip and fall, trying to do it on my own.

Keep me from dishonoring You by trying to carry my own burdens—when You are right here with me, waiting to carry them for me, wanting to take care of my every need, and well able to keep me, in every possible way, from slipping and falling.

The Good Work Of Transformation

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

—Philippians 1:6 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for sending Christ to pay the penalty for the sin of all mankind!  Thank You, also, for the good work of transformation that You began within me on the day I first believed—and for always being faithful to finish what You start!

I know with certainty that it is You who began this work—by the power of Christ in me—and because it is You that began this work, it is a good work, indeed.

I believe that this good work that You began will work within me for the rest of my days—that You will be faithful to attentively continue it throughout my lifetime.

I am completely confident that, by Your Spirit, You are enabling me to become more like Christ every day—as I continue to grow and mature in Him, according to Your plan and purpose, into the perfected work of Your hand.

I am grateful that You will not leave undone the good work that You have begun in me—but will be faithful to bring this work of love and grace to final completion on that day when I finally see Christ Jesus face to face.

Thank You for sending Christ to pay the penalty for the sin of all mankind!  Thank You, also, for the good work of transformation that You began within me on the day I first believed—and for always being faithful to finish what You start!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
