For Those Who are Righteous

But for those who are righteous, the way is not steep and rough.

You are a God who does what is right,

and you smooth out the path ahead of them.

LORD, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name. —Isaiah 26:7-8 (NLT)

Gracious and Loving LORD,

Help me to walk in right-standing with You—exemplifying both moral and spiritual integrity in all I do—by the power of Christ in me—so that my path will not be steep and rough but be smoothed out before me by Your hand.

You have called me to obedience for my own good—so my way will not be rough and steep. Help me to obey both Your Word and Your Spirit, as I follow You!

You are the upright God—the One who always does what is right. You smooth out the path of those who are righteous—for those who are in right-standing with You—because they have put their trust in You.

We show our trust in You when we obey Your laws—when the deepest desire of our hearts is to glorify Your name!

Help me to walk in right-standing with You—exemplifying both moral and spiritual integrity in all I do—by the power of Christ in me—so that my path will not be steep and rough but be smoothed out before me by Your hand.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Called to Trust and Obey for My Own Good

But for those who are righteous,

That Our Love May Abound More and More

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.

—Philippians 1:9-11 (NIV)

Heavenly Father,

Let our love for You overflow more and more from within us—as it spills from us and covers all those around us—in fullness of knowledge and depth of insight into all that is right and true.

Let us be known for the abundance of our love—our love for You, LORD, our love for one another, and our love for others—and always be growing together in our knowledge and understanding of the power of Your love at work in us, through us, and all around us.

Grant us the discernment to understand what really matters—to put our energies and attention on things that are truly excellent and have the highest moral value—so that our lives might be continually moving deeper and higher in You, as by Your Spirit, You continue to do the work of sanctification in our lives, in order that we can live pure and blameless lives and not stumble, or cause others to stumble, along our journey home.

Let our lives be marked by the fruit of our right standing with You and our right doing out of the overflow of the love of Christ in us—all for Your glory and praise alone—so that by our faith in You, we might truly please You in all that we do.

Let our love for You overflow more and more from within us—as it spills from us and covers all those around us—in fullness of knowledge and depth of insight into all that is right and true.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
