Let Your Soul Delight Itself In Abundance

Why do you spend money for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight itself in abundance.

—Isaiah 55:2 (NKJV)

Heavenly Father,

Help me not to spend my money and my time chasing after that which does not satisfy the hunger of my soul—when You have invited me to let my soul freely delight in the abundance that You have prepared for me.

Help me to listen carefully and expectantly to You—as You speak to me through Your Word and by Your Spirit—that I would not only hear what You would say, but also apply Your Truth to my life by faith.

For only then can I both receive the promise of everlasting life, and fully live now in the abundance of peace and joy, provision and strength, and protection and safety that You provide in this life for those that follow You.

Make my life so much more than what I consume with my physical body—and help me to feed my spirit on Your Truth and Grace—for only then will the deepest longings of my soul be satisfied in abundance.

Help me not to spend my money and my time chasing after that which does not satisfy the hunger of my soul—when You have invited me to let my soul freely delight in the abundance that You have prepared for me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Not Foolishly Feeding On Trash

A wise person is hungry for knowledge,
while the fool feeds on trash.

—Proverbs 15:14 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Let my appetite for more knowledge of Your will and deeper understanding of Your ways never be satisfied—and may I always be hungry to have more of You in my life.

Don’t ever allow me to think that I know more than I know, but keep me hungry for knowledge—that I might see Your hand in everything that I learn, and discover more about who You are in every moment I live.

And in discovering who You are, help me to see who I am to You—in all the things that You have done for me—so that I will continue to grow into that person who only follows after the Truth and doesn’t just collect knowledge for knowledge’s sake.

Save me from the foolishness of settling for feeding from the world’s trash heap of lies in order to satisfy my heart’s hunger to know more—when You have prepared a feast of Truth for me in Your Word.

Let my appetite for more knowledge of Your will and deeper understanding of Your ways never be satisfied—and may I always be hungry to have more of You in my life.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

All Things Beautiful

Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.

—Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Oh that I might see the beauty of everything that You have created—of all things You have done—and rest in the assurance of Your sovereignty, mercy, grace and love.

Help me to accept that I am not able to see the whole scope of the work You are doing from beginning to end—and that sometimes it will be hard for me to see the beauty of what You have done, because the work is not yet complete.

Thank You for that glimpse of the perfection of eternity that You have planted in my heart—a taste of what is to come that keeps me never quite satisfied with anything this world has to offer, but always yearning for the perfect world that will only come by Your perfect rule.

Thank You for making me in Your image—so that the longing and hungering of my heart can only be truly satisfied by more of You in my life.

Oh that I might see the beauty of everything that You have created—of all things You have done—and rest in the assurance of Your sovereignty, mercy, grace and love.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
