To Fear the LORD and Serve Him Faithfully

Only fear the LORD and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; for consider how great are the things He has done for you.

Great and Glorious God,

Let me forever stand in Your presence and tremble with awe at the greatness of Your absolute power and authority—and out of my gratefulness for who You are, and for all that You have done for me, may I faithfully serve You with all that I am.

Let every part of me always be filled with reverential fear, deepest respect, and complete humility, because of the majesty of all that You are—and grant me the undeserved privilege of being used by You in Your glorious plan for us all.

May my gratitude, for what You have done to bring us into relationship with You, continuously flow from my heart in thanksgiving—as it permeates my thoughts, guides my words and determines my actions, with each new day You give to me.

And may I never forget how many truly great things You have done for me, personally—things You did so I could experience for myself the depth of the compassion, mercy, forgiveness, grace, patience, kindness, and gentleness with which You pour out Your love over me.

The One Who Goes With You

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

—Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV)

O LORD, My God,

No matter what opposition or challenges that the forces of evil may put before me today, grant that I would be strong and courageous—confidently trusting in the Truth that You are the One who goes with me, who never leaves me nor forsakes me.

Let my strength be found in the Truth of Your immeasurable strength within me.

Let my courage be demonstrated by my faith in Your ever-abiding Presence.

Let fear be far from me because I have been filled to overflowing with the knowledge and experience of Your unfailing love for me.

Let my testimony be that my God goes with me wherever I go—has never left my side and has never let me down—so I have no reason to fear!

God is Working in You

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

—Philippians 2:13 (NLT)

Gracious God,

I know that it is not by my own power that Your will is accomplished in my life, but it is You who works within me—not only creating in me the longing desire to do what pleases You, but also giving me the strength, energy and ability to carry out that plan and purpose!

So I invite You to work within me, by Your Holy Spirit, to change the self-centered, self-serving desires of my heart, so that I will become more Christ-like—that the power and peace of His presence in me, would be revealed in my words and by my actions.

Help me to listen for You to speak to me through Your Spirit—as I read and study Your Word, find fellowship with other faithful Christians and offer myself sacrificially in service to those you place before me.

And as I listen, help me be willing and eagerly obedient to act on what You ask of me—so that, as I continue in that obedience, You will cause my desires to become what You desire and will give me the power to do all things that please You.
