Every Day, Every Moment!

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.   —
Psalm 139:13-16 (NLT)

All Wise Creator God,

Let me forever praise You! For You are the Designer of my most intricate parts, the Composer of their delicate harmonies, the Architect of the frame of this temple, and the Author of my amazing story—the God who breathed life into my spirit and accounted for every moment of my life, before a single day had passed!

How well You know me! You know me completely, and yet You love me still! Let me never speak ill of what You have done, are doing, and have yet to do, within me, through me, and all around me.

But rather let me come before you with reverent fear of Your awesome power and with quiet confidence in Your love for me—knowing that out of everything You created, You set Your affection on the ones You made in Your image.

So, grant that all that I am—physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually—would bring You glory, honor, and praise forever, for all that You are and for all that You have done in my life!

Let me forever praise You! For You are the Designer of my most intricate parts, the Composer of their delicate harmonies, the Architect of the frame of this temple, and the Author of my amazing story—the God who breathed life into my spirit and accounted for every moment of my life, before a single day had passed!

A Dangerous Trap!

Fearing people is a dangerous trap,
    but trusting the L
ORD means safety.

—Proverbs 29:25 (NLT)

Loving and Caring LORD,

Keep me far from the dangerous trap of fearing people—whether it is a fear of what they may think of me, or a fear of what they might try to do to me, or even a fear of what they might choose to do to themselves—and help me find my safety and rest in trusting You.

Don’t allow me to let my fear of people keep me from doing that which You have called me to do, or from being who You have called me to be—but help me keep my eyes focused on You, so that I won’t be enslaved by the power that the fear of others can hold over me.

Let me fear You only—to respect, reverence, and honor You with wholehearted trust—knowing that You are well able to turn what others intend for evil into great good, and to protect me and provide for my every need, through Christ Jesus.

And let me fully experience the liberating freedom of rejoicing in all things, by placing them and leaving them all—both the overwhelmingly big and the seemingly small—in Your hands for safe keeping, with the absolute assurance that You are always in control and want the very best for us all.

Keep me far from the dangerous trap of fearing people—whether it is a fear of what they may think of me, or a fear of what they might try to do to me, or even a fear of what they might choose to do to themselves—and help me find my safety and rest in trusting You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Remember Your Mercy!

I have heard all about you, LORD.
I am filled with awe by your amazing works.
In this time of our deep need,
help us again as you did in years gone by.
And in your anger,
    remember your mercy.

                 —Habakkuk 3:2 (NLT)

Merciful LORD,

In this time of our deep need, please help us once again!  Though we deserve Your anger, even still have mercy upon us according to Your loving-kindness!

As I search the words of Your Holy Scriptures, fill me with awe and wonder—with reverential fear and respect—because of Your amazing works and the demonstrations of Your unlimited power and unfailing love for Your people.

Remind me of all the times that You have tempered Your anger toward the unfaithfulness of Your people with Your mercy—so that they were not destroyed, and the glory of Your Name could continue to be proclaimed throughout the world by the remnants of the faithful.

And grant us, again today, Your mercy—that Your glory might yet shine from within us, that we would return to You in repentance, and find You waiting there to help us, just as You did in years gone by.

In this time of our deep need, please help us once again!  Though we deserve Your anger, even still have mercy upon us according to Your loving-kindness!

Awe-Inspired Reverence and Obedience

The LORD favors those who fear and worship Him

[with awe-inspired reverence and obedience],
Those who wait for His mercy and lovingkindness.

Psalm 147:11 (AMP)

LORD of Mercy and Lovingkindness,

May I fear and worship only You—as I wait for Your mercy and lovingkindness!

Help me to find the favor You show to those who truly fear and worship You—to those who tremble before You because You are the God who does what He says He will do, the One who sovereignly reigns with perfect justice.

Let the power that You display in me, through me, and in all Your creation around me, inspire me to reverently worship You with all my life—to obey every command and instruction of Your Word, and every prompting of Your Holy Spirit—trusting You will guide me into Your very best plan for me.

And help me to expectantly wait for and joyfully anticipate the mercy and lovingkindness that You promise to show me—both today and forevermore—as I put all my hope in You.

May I fear and worship only You—as I wait for Your mercy and lovingkindness!

Seven Detestable Things

There are six things the LORD hates—
    no, seven things he detests:
haughty eyes,
    a lying tongue,
    hands that kill the innocent,
a heart that plots evil,
feet that race to do wrong,
a false witness who pours out lies,
a person who sows discord in a family.

 —Proverbs 6:16-19 (NLT)

LORD of my Heart,

Help me surrender all my heart and life to You—so You would have no reason to detest the things that You find in me.

Remove any haughtiness or conceitedness from within me—especially when my eyes show contempt for others. Keep me from sinning by thinking more highly of myself than I ought to, while undervaluing others.

Check me by Your Spirit should any lie be formed in my heart—before it spills across my tongue—that my words would always reflect that I hold Truth as sacred in my life.

Purge from me any desire for the shedding of innocent blood—for cruelty or bloodthirstiness.  Help me to have precious reverence for the sanctity of life.

Expose any tendency to devise wickedness in my heart or to entertain or rehearse evil plans in my mind—that I might chose to meditate only on what is good and right.

Make my feet quick to run to do what is good, so that my feet will be kept from that which is evil.

Let me only speak the truth about others—and let those words be pleasing to You—so that I cannot be used as a tool of the enemy for his purposes.

And stop me from sowing any seeds of discord among my family—whether my natural family or my brothers and sisters in Christ—that unity would be preserved.

Help me surrender all my heart and life to You—so You would have no reason to detest the things that You find in me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Great and Mighty Things

“Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it to establish it, the LORD is His name, ‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’”

—Jeremiah 33:2-3 (NASB)

O LORD of All Creation,

How wonderfully amazing it is that You—the One who made the earth and everything in it, who formed it and established it by Your Word—would not only invite me to call to You, but would promise to answer me and tell me great and unsearchable things that I do not know!

May I forever remain in reverent fear and overwhelming awe of Your power and majesty—as You continue to surround me with the glories of Your creation and reveal to me the intricacies of the order by which You alone have established all things.

Through Your unfailing love for me, teach me to know more perfectly Your will and Your ways—so that my will would be conformed to Yours, and so my prayers would be offered up in harmony with Your will, Your plans, and Your purposes for me.

Grant me the courage to call out boldly to you with prayers of faith.  And help me to believe that You always hear and will answer my call—and that You will reveal to me great things that I cannot discover within my own intellect or power.

How wonderfully amazing it is that You—the One who made the earth and everything in it, who formed it and established it by Your Word—would not only invite me to call to You, but would promise to answer me and tell me great and unsearchable things that I do not know!

Knowledge, Understanding, and Wisdom

Cry out for insight,

    and ask for understanding.
Search for them as you would for silver;
    seek them like hidden treasures.
Then you will understand what it means to fear the L
ORD,
and you will gain knowledge of God.
For the L
ORD grants wisdom!

From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. —Proverbs 2:3-6 (NLT)

God of All Wisdom,

Thank You for showing me the pathway to wisdom, and for guiding me down that path.

Strengthen me along this journey, as I cry out to You for insight and pray to You for understanding.

Create in me a hunger to search out those hidden treasures that are found within the pages of Your Word—treasures which reveal Your truth, Your will and Your ways.

And as I gain knowledge of all You are, help me to fully experience what it means to fear You—to respond to the glory of who You are with humble and awestruck reverence.

For only You can grant wisdom, and all knowledge and understanding comes from Your mouth alone.

Thank You for showing me the pathway to wisdom, and for guiding me down that path.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Fear and Serve the LORD!

“Now therefore, fear the L
ORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD!  And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” —Joshua 24:14-15 (NKJV)

LORD GOD Almighty,

Show me how to fear You, LORD—in awe and reverence of everything that You are and all that You have done!  As I seek to serve You in sincerity and in truth, let me put no other gods before You.

Multiple times within each new day, I am faced with making the same decision that Joshua told the children of Israel they must make. Because I have free-will, I get to choose whom I will serve, but I still must make that choice. Help me to choose only You.

Help me to understand and remember that it is impossible for me not to worship—whether it is some thing or someone—and that whatever I give my time, talents, and money to, has the potential to be my god.

So, help me to reject any of the false gods that others, who came before me, may have served—gods of success, money, power, possessions, or even other people.

Help me also reject the false gods of this present world in which I must dwell—paying close attention not to allow any of the so-called “good things of this life” to become gods that I place before You.

Help me to repeatedly make the right choice for me and my house, as to whom we will serve. Help us always to choose You, LORD.

Show me how to fear You, LORD—in awe and reverence of everything that You are and all that You have done!  As I seek to serve You in sincerity and in truth, let me put no other gods before You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Wait Expectantly!

In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice;

in the morning I lay my requests before you

    and wait expectantly.

Psalm 5:3 (NIV)

Loving LORD,

Every morning, let me call out to You with confidence, humbly placing my requests before You. Then let me wait expectantly, in Your Presence, believing You hear me and will answer the cry of my heart.

Help me come eagerly and boldly before You each morning—with a deep and abiding reverence for You—knowing my reward will be that I will always find You lovingly waiting to meet with me.

Help me to approach Your throne with a heart full of gratitude for this great privilege I have been granted of being welcomed into Your Presence—and for the interest that You have in every detail of what I have to say to You about everything I have on my heart.

And when I have shared my heart, help me to remember to be still and wait, quietly and expectantly in Your presence, for You to speak to me about Your best plans for me—knowing that You will withhold no good thing from me and trusting that You always want what is best for me.

Every morning, let me call out to You with confidence, humbly placing my requests before You. Then let me wait expectantly, in Your Presence, believing You hear me and will answer the cry of my heart.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Respect, Love, Fear, Honor

Show respect for all people [treat them honorably], love the brotherhood [of believers], fear God, honor the king.

—1 Peter 2:17 (AMP)

Holy God,

May my fear of You—my absolute reverence and overwhelming awe of You—be proven by my obedience to all Your commandments.

I confess that I have not always shown respect for all people—that I have forgotten that every one of us has been made in Your image, and therefore is worthy of being treated with respect.

I confess that it is easy to respect and treat honorably those who agree with what I believe, but very difficult for me when it is apparent to me that they are not living in the Truth of Your Word.

I confess that I have not loved my brothers and sisters in Christ as I should—much less the unbelievers of this world, or those that You have placed in authority over me.

Forgive me I pray, and help me to remember that You control all things—that You give power and authority over me to whomever You choose—in order to bring about Your plans and purposes for us.

And help me to remember that my part remains the same:  to fear and worship You alone, as I put all my hope in Christ; to show respect to all people and treat them honorably; to love well my brothers and sisters in Christ; and, as much as I can do so, without violating Your commandments, to give honor to those in authority over me.

May Your Kingdom come, and Your Will be done—that the whole earth would be filled with Your Glory!

May my fear of You—my absolute reverence and overwhelming awe of You—be proven by my obedience to all Your commandments.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
