Love the LORD!

“Love the LORD your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul.”

Joshua 22:5b (NLT)

O LORD, My God,

May everything that I think, say, and do, be evidence of my unwavering love for You—so that there would never be any doubt about who owns my heart and keeps my soul!

Grant me the wisdom to walk in all Your ways—to be faithful to follow, even when the path is hard, and steep, and narrow—for all Your ways are perfect.

Grant me the willingness to obey all Your commands—for in obedience to You, I find the path to life and well-being, to healing, and to wholeness for my soul.

Grant me the strength to hold firmly to You—and to believe that You will uphold me in every way and provide for my every need along this journey to my forever home in You.

Grant me the humility to submit to You in all things—as You work in me the desire and the power to offer all my heart and soul in service for You.

May everything that I think, say and do, be evidence of my unwavering love for You—so that there would never be any doubt about who owns my heart and keeps my soul!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Training for Godliness

“Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.”

—1 Timothy 4:8 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me to keep my priorities in order, so that I might enjoy the greater benefits You have promised, both in this life and in the life to come, and bring You glory with my life.

Don’t allow me to neglect my physical body but give me the wisdom to know how best to take care of it, as You grant me the discipline to do so—so that I will be physically able to accomplish the work that You call me to do.

But beyond physical training, let my heart be even more devoted to the training and development of my spiritual life—knowing that it is with spiritual strength and faith that the true battles of this life are waged and won.

And help me to remember that, in training for godliness, I must not only set aside that which is evil, but also choose to do that which is good—so that in my obedience to You I will find peace and joy, and by godly living I might bring You glory.

Help me to keep my priorities in order, so that I might enjoy the greater benefits You have promised, both in this life and in the life to come, and bring You glory with my life.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Childlike

“I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.”

—Mark 10:15 (NLT)

Loving Father God,

Teach me how to come to You like a child, that I might enter into all that You have for me—both in the here-and-now, and for all eternity to come.

Teach me how to come to You with childlike humility—knowing that I have only my heart to offer You and that I can do no good thing apart from You.

Teach me how to come to You with childlike dependence—knowing I am helpless and hopeless without You, but that even still, I can find my help and hope in You.

Teach me how to come to You with childlike inquisitiveness—that I might gain knowledge, grow in wisdom, and leave behind my foolish ways.

Teach me how to come to You with childlike faith—asking confidently for Your best for me and believing You will give me every good thing You have for me.

Teach me how to come to You with childlike obedience—willingly going and doing that which You require of me, knowing You always have my best interests at heart.

Teach me how to come to You with childlike gratefulness—giving thanks and rejoicing in all situations for all Your goodness, knowing You work all things together for my good.

Teach me how to come to You with childlike love—a love that is purely motivated and freely offered, just because of who You are.

Teach me how to come to You like a child—that I might enter into all that You have for me, both in the here-and-now, and for all eternity to come.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Kept Safe

Those who trust in themselves are fools,
but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.

Proverbs 28:26 (NIV)

Heavenly Father,

Save me from the foolishness of trusting in myself and help me to walk as a wise man—with my eyes fixed on You and with a heart that beats only after Your own heart!

Don’t allow me to start believing that my thoughts are necessarily wise just because I think them, or that my own strength and power is sufficient to carry me, or that my own actions could ever be enough to justify me before You.

Keep me ever close to You—and help me to remember that the times that I am most likely to be deceived by the enemy are those times when I have foolishly wandered from Your Holy Presence.

Make me wise enough to put all my trust in You—in Your power at work in me, in Your promises given to me, and in Your unfailing love for me—the One who is faithful to keep safe all those who wisely humble themselves and step forward in faith, to walk with the One who is mighty to save!

Save me from the foolishness of trusting in myself and help me to walk as a wise man—with my eyes fixed on You and with a heart that beats only after Your own heart!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Turn Away From Evil!

Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil.

Proverbs 3:7 (NLT)

All-Wise Father,

Don't allow me to be impressed with my own wisdom—when You are the only wise God.

Keep me from thinking that my own intellect or reasoning will produce any wisdom outside of You—but let me pray, asking You to make me wise, as You reveal Your Truth to me through Your Word and by Your Spirit.

Help me humbly and reverently fear and worship You alone and turn my back on all that is evil—repenting of all my sin and determining to find Your best for me—by submitting myself to Your will, plans, and purposes for my life.

Grant me the wisdom always to seek You first, in all things, so that my life would be lived out in Truth—both in private moments and in public moments—as a testimony to others, all for Your glory, honor, and praise.

Don't allow me to be impressed with my own wisdom—when You are the only wise God.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

No One Can Stop You!

“I know that you can do anything,
and no one can stop you.”

Job 42:2 (NLT)

Almighty God,

Expand the limits of my heart, my mind, and my faith, so that I might more fully embrace the Truth of Your unlimited strength and power, unlimited knowledge and wisdom, unlimited authority and dominion, and unlimited love for me as Your child.

Help me to repent of all the times when, by my thoughts, words or actions, I have shown a lack of faith in the Truth of Your greatness, glory, and perfection—times when I have put limits on what I believed that You were able, or were willing, to do.

Help me to see, believe, and take comfort in the Truth that Your Plan cannot be stopped—cannot be restrained or prevented—even by the mistakes and misjudgments I make in my life.  You work all things—good and bad—together for my good and interweave them all into the perfection of Your plan!

So, help me to move boldly forward with my life, trusting that You will guide my every step and position me in the place that You want me to be, so that You can receive the greatest glory—because of Your unfailing love for us all.

Expand the limits of my heart, my mind, and my faith, so that I might more fully embrace the Truth of Your unlimited strength and power, unlimited knowledge and wisdom, unlimited authority and dominion, and unlimited love for me as Your child.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Obedient to Christ

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.  The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.  We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

—2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NIV)

Heavenly Father,

Help me always remember this:  The real battles I must fight in this life are spiritual battles against anything that challenges Truth—that is, the knowledge of God—for the control of my heart.

Thank You that my battles are not like those of the world which—because they are waged in the flesh—only bring misery and destruction to all who fight them.  Thank You there is victory in Christ for every battle I face!

Remind me that You have given me divinely powerful weapons—to use in the spiritual battles I must fight for the control of my heart, soul, and spirit—weapons that are able to demolish any strongholds of the enemy, every argument he may make, and each lie that he spews which contradicts the Truth I find in Your Word.

Grant me the wisdom to use these weapons—the weapons of prayer, the power of Truth of Your Word proclaimed, the witness of Your Holy Spirit within my spirit, and my authority in Christ as Your child—to enforce Your victory over the enemy in my life.

Help me carefully examine every thought or argument that enters my mind and hold it captive and isolated—unable to escape, deceive, or influence me in any way—until such time as it conforms to, and agrees with, and is obedient to Truth I find in Christ.

Help me always remember this:  The real battles I must fight in this life are spiritual battles against anything that challenges Truth—that is, the knowledge of God—for the control of my heart.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

One Thing

One thing I ask from the LORD,
    this only do I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze on the beauty of the LORD
and to seek him in his temple.

 —Psalm 27:4 (NIV)

O LORD My God,

May the one thing I ask for, the only thing I seek, be the privilege of dwelling in Your Presence—of gazing on Your beauty, in an abiding, unbroken, intimate relationship with You!

King David wrote of his desire to make Your house his home—knowing that Your house was where Your Presence could be found, and that in Your Presence he would find everything that He needed.

And so, it is true for me, that in Your Presence I can experience provision for all my needs, protection from all my enemies, comfort for all my sorrows, wisdom to discern the truth of Your Word, knowledge beyond my own intellect, the power, strength and courage to do Your will, and a peace that surpasses my own understanding.

Help me to be ever mindful that You are always with me, You never leave my side, and that You are, in truth, alive within me—so that I won’t be tempted to wander my own way, but can personally experience all the grace and truth of the abundant life that I find, when I seek out Your Presence.

May the one thing I ask for, the only thing I seek, be the privilege of dwelling in Your Presence—of gazing on Your beauty, in an abiding, unbroken, intimate relationship with You!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Mark Out a Straight Path

So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.

—Hebrews 12:12-13 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

With each new challenge that comes, grant me the wisdom to renew my grip on the plans You have for me, and the strength and courage to recommit myself to follow the straight path of obedience, for the benefit of all those around me.

When I find myself facing difficulties—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—and when I am weary from the fight, help me take a new grip on the call You have placed on my life to follow You.

Help me to push forward through those fears that would weaken my knees and undermine my effectiveness—as I courageously face the unknown in the confidence that I am not alone, because Your Spirit upholds me according to the power of Christ at work in me.

Help me to follow that straight path of willing obedience to You in all things, so that those who are weak and have been injured in this good fight of faith will see You at work—both in me and through me—and be encouraged, strengthened, healed, and made whole again in You, for Your glory!

With each new challenge that comes, grant me the wisdom to renew my grip on the plans You have for me, and the strength and courage to recommit myself to follow the straight path of obedience, for the benefit of all those around me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Answer Me

Incline your ear, O LORD, and answer me,
for I am poor and needy.

—Psalm 86:1 (ESV)

Loving and Compassionate Father God,

Don’t allow me to ever take for granted the truth that, like a good father, You bend down to listen to my every word and understand every matter on my heart—then lovingly and compassionately answer me according to what is best for me.

Thank You that because You are a loving and compassionate God, I can be confidently assured that You will never disregard or dismiss the cries of my heart.

With that confidence that You hear me, help me to always come to You in humility, recognizing that I am poor and needy—that without You I am nothing and apart from You I can do no good thing.

Thank You for answering me out of the infinite vastness of Your love, understanding, and wisdom, so that I can always trust that You answer will set me on the very best path that You have for me—and that in walking that path with You, I will find my every need met.

Don’t allow me to ever take for granted the truth that, like a good father, You bend down to listen to my every word and understand every matter on my heart—then lovingly and compassionately answer me according to what is best for me.

In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Fully Convinced!

Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.  He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.

—Romans 4:20-21 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

May my faith never waver, but rather grow ever stronger, so that my life will bring glory to You—and may I ever remain fully convinced that You are able and will do everything that You have promised, at just the right time, according to Your perfect plan.

Remind me that—though my life has been filled with many mistakes, much sin, and multiple failures of my faith—You have always remained faithful to love and forgive me, and to use every circumstance I find myself in, to call me to a deeper faith in You.

Grant me the wisdom to seek out Your promises within the pages of Your Word, so I might, by faith, remain obedient to You in all things—and teach me to trust You even more, through my experience of Your faithfulness to me.

With strengthened faith, let me never again allow any doubt or unbelief to cause me to question Your faithfulness or Your ability to carry out that which You have promised—but let me remain fully convinced that You are able!

May my faith never waver, but rather grow ever stronger, so that my life will bring glory to You—and may I ever remain fully convinced that You are able and will do everything that You have promised, at just the right time, according to Your perfect plan.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

What the LORD Says!

“This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another.”

—Zechariah 7:9 (NLT)

O LORD of Heaven’s Armies,

May all my judgments be fair, and may I always show mercy and kindness to others—as I am reminded of the way You judge everything about me fairly, yet still lavish me with love and grace, pouring out Your mercy and kindness upon me.

Keep me from standing arrogantly in rash judgment of others—from being too quick to condemn people for how they act.  For only You can truly know the deep wounds of a person’s heart, and only You can judge their motives and intentions.

So instead, give me the boldness to speak the Truth in love against that which is sin—as You have revealed it in Your Word—all the while showing the same mercy and kindness that You pour out upon us all, because of Your great love for each one of us.

Grant me the wisdom to fairly judge for myself between that which is right and good, and that which is wrong and evil—so that I would live a life full of truth and grace, and bring glory to You in all my thoughts, words and actions.

May all my judgments be fair, and may I always show mercy and kindness to others—as I am reminded of the way You judge everything about me fairly, yet still lavish me with love and grace, pouring out Your mercy and kindness upon me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Unsearchable and Unfathomable!

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

—Romans 11:33 and 36 (NASB)

LORD GOD Most High,

May all glory be forever given to You, for You alone are worthy of it all!

The deepest ocean depths can in no way compare to the depth of the riches of both Your wisdom and Your knowledge. Your judgments are unsearchable and Your ways unfathomable for us.

For by Your unlimited knowledge, You see with clear perfection all that ever was, is now, or ever will be. And according to Your divine wisdom you orchestrate it all into a symphony of Your amazing work of love for Your creation, breathing meaning and purpose into each note along the way.

From You are all things—there is nothing except what comes from You. Through You are all things—all things pass through You according to Your direction, plan, and for Your purposes. To You are all things—all things exist to ultimately give You glory.

May all glory be forever given to You, for You alone are worthy of it all!

In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
