My Light, My Salvation

The LORD is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
    so why should I tremble?

Psalm 27:1 (NLT)

LORD God Almighty,

You are my light and my salvation!  You are the One who protects me from danger—my fortress and my refuge from all harm.  So, I have no reason to be afraid—no reason to tremble.

You are the light that shines within me!  You are that unfaltering light that dispels all the darkness—that never-failing light against which evil cannot stand.  So, let Your light shine in me, and through me, and help me to see it shining all around me, as You keep me in perfect peace and illuminate every step I take with You.

You are my salvation!  You are the One who, through Christ, has saved me from my sin and blessed me with eternal life in You—the One who has made me peculiar, by calling me to come away from the ways of this world, so I can live in ongoing fellowship with You forever.

You are my fortress and my refuge!  You are the One, the All-Powerful God, who keeps me safe in every way:  my Defender—when I am falsely accused; my Protector—from the forces of evil that would seek to destroy me; my Provider—who gives me all that I need to accomplish Your will for me; and my Peace—standing firm and unmoved in the midst of every storm.

You are my light and my salvation!  You are the One who protects me from danger—my fortress and my refuge from all harm.  So, I have no reason to be afraid—no reason to tremble.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

My Salvation!

O LORD, God of my salvation,
I cry out day and night before you.

Let my prayer come before you;
incline your ear to my cry!

Psalm 88:1-2 (ESV)

LORD God of my salvation,

Help me to truly believe that You watch and listen for anyone who will seek You with their whole heart!

Move on me by Your Spirit to cry out to You day and night as I face the struggles of this life—reminding me that all my help comes from You, for You alone are my salvation.

Assure me with the truth that my prayers do come rising before You—reaching all the way into Your Holy Presence.

May You always incline Your ear to the voice of my cries, hear the pleading of my heart, and answer me in love—according to Your perfect will and purpose for me.

Help me to truly believe that You watch and listen for anyone who will seek You with their whole heart!

In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Wait Quietly Before God

I wait quietly before God,
for my victory comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress where I will never be shaken.

—Psalm 62:1-2 (NLT)

Almighty God,

No matter what dangers or difficulties I may face in this life, let me always wait—with confident and quiet expectation—for that glorious and saving victory that can only come from You.

Help me always remain in right relationship with You—willingly submitting to You as my Sovereign God and looking to You for help—as a child looks to a good father either to deliver him out of trouble, or to carry him through that trouble in complete safety.

Help me not to complain against what You do—as if I could know better than You.  But help me to embrace Your will as my own, choosing to make You the firm and immovable rock upon which my life is built—to make You my only salvation.

Let me live in the truth that You are the only strong fortress where I can find quiet shelter from the storms that rage against me—the only place I can hide myself and not be shaken by their fury.

No matter what dangers or difficulties I may face in this life, let me always wait—with confident and quiet expectation—for that glorious and saving victory that can only come from You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Turn . . . and Be Saved!

Turn to me and be saved,
all the ends of the earth!
For I am God, and there is no other.”

—Isaiah 45:22 (ESV)

Righteous God and Savior,

From all the ends of the earth, may each soul You have created turn to You—the One and Only God—and be saved!

You are indeed God, and there is no other. You created all that there is and set in perfect motion every interdependent complexity of Your creation.

You created each one of us to bear Your image and placed us within Your creation, so that we could know You through a deep and personal relationship with you, to worship You, and to bring You glory.

You have made known to us Your love for us and made Your creation to declare to us the wonders of Your power and goodness—that we would make You known to the ends of the earth.

May we continue to turn to You in every moment of this day—to turn to the only One who can save us—and find that You are the God who is faithful to save, always.

From all the ends of the earth, may each soul You have created turn to You—the One and Only God—and be saved!

In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

I Have Given Rest . . . and Joy!

“For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing.”

Jeremiah 31:25 (NLT)

O God, the One who sees me,

In those times when I become weary, in those times when sorrow fills my heart, may I find in You the rest You promise, and may You strengthen me with inexpressible joy!

You know me completely! You know how easy it is for me to let the cares of this world weigh me down. So, let me find my rest in You—as I choose to live my life in Christ.

You know every sorrow that fills my heart! Yet, You offer to restore me to a place of strength and gladness—as, by Your Holy Spirit, You fill me with the joy of my salvation!

So draw me close to You—so I can find rest for my weariness, and joy for my sorrow, in Christ Jesus alone!

In those times when I become weary, in those times when sorrow fills my heart, may I find in You the rest You promise, and may You strengthen me with inexpressible joy!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Kept Safe

Those who trust in themselves are fools,
but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.

Proverbs 28:26 (NIV)

Heavenly Father,

Save me from the foolishness of trusting in myself and help me to walk as a wise man—with my eyes fixed on You and with a heart that beats only after Your own heart!

Don’t allow me to start believing that my thoughts are necessarily wise just because I think them, or that my own strength and power is sufficient to carry me, or that my own actions could ever be enough to justify me before You.

Keep me ever close to You—and help me to remember that the times that I am most likely to be deceived by the enemy are those times when I have foolishly wandered from Your Holy Presence.

Make me wise enough to put all my trust in You—in Your power at work in me, in Your promises given to me, and in Your unfailing love for me—the One who is faithful to keep safe all those who wisely humble themselves and step forward in faith, to walk with the One who is mighty to save!

Save me from the foolishness of trusting in myself and help me to walk as a wise man—with my eyes fixed on You and with a heart that beats only after Your own heart!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

My Strength, My Song, My Salvation!

“Behold, God is my salvation,
I will trust and not be afraid;
For the LORD GOD is my strength and song,
And He has become my salvation.”

Isaiah 12:2 (NASB)

LORD GOD Almighty,

You are my strength and song—the One who saves me in every way! I choose to trust You and not be afraid!

With wide-eyed wonder and an ever-grateful heart, I declare that You are my salvation—not only because of the saving work of grace that was accomplished through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus, but also because of the place of perfect peace and safety You have reserved and called me to in Him.

Knowing what You did for me, how can I still be afraid?  How can I not believe that You will take care of every temporal need while I am here—working all things for my good because of Your great love for me—until You take me to my forever home with You?

Help me to always reflect Your faithfulness to me—by my consistent obedience to Your Word and Your Spirit—as I put all my hope and faith in You for the continuing salvation that You have promised to me.

Be my strength—flooding the void of my weakness with Your sustaining power—equipping me in every way for every battle of faith that comes along the path upon which You have set me.

Be my song—overwhelming my spirit with Your Holy Spirit—so that the music of my life would be one of continual praise and thanksgiving for all You have done, and uninterrupted worship for all that You are.

You are my strength and song—the One who saves me in every way! I choose to trust You and not be afraid!

In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

Hiding Place

You are my hiding place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance.

Psalm 32:7 (NIV)

O LORD, My God,

Where else, O LORD, can I go to hide?  To whom can I turn for protection from my troubles, besides You?  Who else will surround me with songs of deliverance?  My only hope for salvation is found in You, through Christ!

You alone are my hiding place—my place of safety and comfort, my sanctuary of peace—where I am held in Your arms, high above the storms of this life.  So may my life always remain hidden in Christ.

In You alone will I find protection from all my troubles—as I humble myself before you, repent of my sins, and experience the grace of Your loving-kindness.

Only You, will surround me with songs of deliverance.  Just as You have delivered me from the power of sin and death over my life, You will save me from all the powers that would seek to destroy me—when I hide myself in You.

Where else, O LORD, can I go to hide?  To whom can I turn for protection from my troubles, besides You?  Who else will surround me with songs of deliverance?  My only hope for salvation is found in You, through Christ!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Strayed Away

All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the L
ORD laid on him
    the sins of us all.

Isaiah 53:6 (NLT)

Loving LORD,

Like a shepherd lead me, along Your paths today,

and teach me by Your Spirit’s voice, to never stray away.

I need You to lead me today.  Because just like a sheep, if left on my own, I will wander from the path of Your will for me—and follow a path marked by my own self-centered desires.

Sometimes, I do it somehow blindly unaware of my wandering—as if I were sleepwalking—failing to wake up to the error of my way, until I am lost and a long way from home.

Sometimes, I fall back into my old ways of stubborn and willful rebellion—fully aware, but foolishly wanting what I want, more than wanting what You want for me.

And yet, always, even in my sin, You call me to return to You—having laid all my sin upon Jesus, so that I might stand in the peace and protection of Your Presence once again.

Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You, and to value Your Presence as I should, so I will hear Your instruction and choose to follow You in obedience—as You lead me to every good thing that You have prepared for me.

Like a shepherd lead me, along Your paths today,

and teach me by Your Spirit’s voice, to never stray away.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

The LORD and His Strength

Search for the LORD

 and for his strength;
    continually seek him.
Remember the wonders he has performed,
his miracles, and the rulings he has given,
you children of his servant Abraham,
you descendants of Jacob, his chosen ones.

Psalm 105:4-6 (NLT)

Loving LORD,

When I lose my way, when I no longer feel Your strength in me, stir my heart to search for You—to continually seek You.

Help me to remember that, just as You chose the descendants of Abraham and Jacob as Your own, You chose me and received me as Your own.

And help me not to forget all the wonders that You have performed, Your miracles, and the rulings and instructions that You have given—both as recorded in the Bible, and as I have experienced personally in my own walk with You.

Then move me to respond to Your immeasurable love for me, with a grateful heart, and in faithful obedience to everything You have taught me and to everything that You ask me to do.

And help me to walk through each moment of all the rest of my days in that strength, so I will come to understand more and more how You are at work in me, through me and all around me—both now and always.

When I lose my way, when I no longer feel Your strength in me, stir my heart to search for You—to continually seek You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

God of My Salvation

But as for me, I will look to the LORD;

I will wait for the God of my salvation;

my God will hear me.

—Micah 7:7 (ESV)

God of My Salvation,

Help me to remember that You are my source of help—that all my help surely comes from You!

Help me look to You and wait—in quietness of spirit and in confidence of heart—for You to save me from whatever circumstance or situation in which I find myself.

And help me to see Your hand working to accomplish Your plans and purposes for me along every path that You lead me down—as You teach me more about Your ways and show me Your salvation.

May I always cry out to You in faith—trusting that You will hear me. For You know my thoughts, even before I put them into words and are ever eager to answer the cries of my heart.

Help me to remember that You are my source of help—that all my help surely comes from You!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

His Name Will Be Called

For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

—Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)

Immanuel, God With Us,

Thank You for coming into our world as a baby, living a sinless life, taking our sin on Yourself, and dying in our place to gain, for us, the victory over sin and death—so that we could find our life in You!

You were born into the world, through a virgin girl—to be fully human—and You were conceived in her womb, by the Holy Spirit, as the Son of God—to be fully God—and sent to a world in desperate need of a Savior.

You brought a new government, a new covenant—perfect and just in all its ways—that would rest on Your shoulders, and not our own, so that it would never end.

You are my Wonderful Counselor—awesomely wonderful in all Your ways and perfectly wise in all Your counsel.

You are my Mighty God—strong and powerful on my behalf, protecting me from my enemies, preserving me with Your mighty right hand and never letting me slip from Your loving grip.

You are my Everlasting Father—the One who gave life itself in the beginning, the One who gave life to me when I was conceived in my mother’s womb, and the One who gives me life forevermore in You.

You are my Prince of Peace—as in You alone do I find that peace that is far greater than I can understand, when I humbly submit myself to Your will for me.

Thank You for coming into our world as a baby, living a sinless life, taking our sin on Yourself, and dying in our place to gain, for us, the victory over sin and death—so that we could find our life in You!

In Your Most Holy and Glorious Name, Amen.

Saved by Love!

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. —John 3:16-17 (NKJV)

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for loving us!

Thank You for Your amazing love for us all—a love which is ever reaching out to us to draw us into relationship with You.

Thank You for the perfect love that You freely gave in the form of Your only begotten Son—who You willingly sacrificed, so we could know just how far true love will go.

Thank You for the complete freedom from our sin that You bought for us, and the path to joy and peace that You laid out before us—when Christ laid down His life for us all.

Thank You for not sending Your Son to condemn us to die as we deserved—but to offer everlasting life with You to all who would believe in Jesus.

Thank You for loving us!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
