Don't Just Pretend to Love!

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good.

—Romans 12:9 (NLT)

Loving LORD GOD,

With Christ as my example, teach me to love others in Spirit and in Truth, to hate what is evil, and hold tightly to what is good—for You are the source of all that is good.

Keep me from the hypocrisy of only pretending to love others—from “loving” others out of impure motives that falsely promise to serve me well, but in the end leave me empty and far from You.

Out of a grateful heart for Your love for me, help me to love others as You do—with complete selflessness—putting the needs of others before my own selfish wants and desires, so that they might see Your love for them through me.

Like Christ, help me to fight passionately against all that is evil—wherever it may raise its ugly head—by always speaking truth, always giving grace, and always walking in His perfect love.

With Christ as my example, teach me to love others in Spirit and in Truth, to hate what is evil, and hold tightly to what is good—for You are the source of all that is good.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

He is the One!

“Do not forget the covenant I made with you, and do not worship other gods. You must worship only the LORD your God. He is the one who will rescue you from all your enemies.”

—2 Kings 17:38-39 (NLT)

O LORD, My God,

You alone, O LORD, are the One who rescues me from all my enemies! May I never forget this truth.

I am tempted, on all sides, to put my faith in—and thus make objects of my worship—the things this world has to offer, counting on them to rescue me, keep me safe, and to sustain me during these difficult and trying times.

Don’t allow me to make gods of the things with which You have given to bless me. Help me instead to use every blessing, as You direct me, only to bring You glory, honor, and praise.

Help me cling to the truth of Your Word, being ever mindful of the power that lives in me by the Holy Spirit, who leads me into that truth—as I put all my trust and faith in the only One who can truly rescue me from all my enemies.

You alone, O LORD, are the One who rescues me from all my enemies! May I never forget this truth.

In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

I Sing, I Cling!

Because you are my helper,
I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.

I cling to you;
your strong right hand holds me securely.

—Psalm 63:7-8 (NLT)

Almighty God, My Helper,

May I always sing for joy, and may I forever cling to You!

While there are those who seek to find their help from the things of this world, You have shown us the Truth in Your Word—that our help is found in You alone.

You are the One who spoke the heavens and the earth into existence—so where else would I go to find help for my life, if not to the Creator of life, Himself?

Because You are my helper, I can always sing for joy—no matter what outward circumstances I face—for You shelter me under the protection of Your covering wings from the troubles of this life.

As I cling to You, You hold me securely—You take on Yourself the force of each storm that comes against me—so I can fulfill Your plan and purpose for me.

So, let my unending song in this life be a joyful song of praise, worship and thanksgiving offered to You—my only help and my sure salvation!

May I always sing for joy, and may I forever cling to You!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Shipwrecked Faith

Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.

—1 Timothy 1:19 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me always cling to my faith in Christ and keep a clear conscience—unwilling to violate my conscience, unwilling to see my faith shipwrecked.

Help me truly believe that my faith in Jesus Christ alone is enough to save and deliver me through any circumstance and every situation in which I find myself—and help me listen to and obey Your Spirit, speaking through my conscience, as You show me the way that I should go.

Help me be careful not to deliberately violate my conscience—because in doing so I harden my heart to the voice of Your Spirit, weaken my capacity to discern right from wrong, deny my belief in the power of Christ to protect and save me, and ultimately shipwreck my faith.

Help me always choose to submit my will to the tugging of the Holy Spirit at my heart, so my conscience will remain clear, and my faith will remain strong—and I can better represent my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with my life.

Help me always cling to my faith in Christ and keep a clear conscience—unwilling to violate my conscience, unwilling to see my faith shipwrecked.

Don't Let Your Faith Be Shipwrecked

Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.

—1 Timothy 1:19 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me always cling to my faith in Christ and keep a clear conscience—as You teach me to willingly submit and obediently respond to every prompting of Your Holy Spirit within me.

Let me truly believe that my faith in Jesus Christ alone is enough to save and deliver me through any circumstance and every situation in which I find myself—and help me listen to Your Spirit speaking through my conscience, as You show me the way that I should go.

Help me be careful not to deliberately violate my conscience—because in doing so I harden my heart to the voice of Your Spirit, weaken my capacity to tell right from wrong, deny my belief in the power of Christ to protect and save me, and ultimately shipwreck my faith.

Help me always cling to my faith in Christ, so that as I submit my will to the tugging of the Holy Spirit at my heart, my conscience will remain clear and my faith will remain strong—and I can better represent my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with my life.

Help me always cling to my faith in Christ and keep a clear conscience—as You teach me to willingly submit and obediently respond to every prompting of Your Holy Spirit within me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
