My Salvation!

O LORD, God of my salvation,
I cry out day and night before you.

Let my prayer come before you;
incline your ear to my cry!

Psalm 88:1-2 (ESV)

LORD God of my salvation,

Help me to truly believe that You watch and listen for anyone who will seek You with their whole heart!

Move on me by Your Spirit to cry out to You day and night as I face the struggles of this life—reminding me that all my help comes from You, for You alone are my salvation.

Assure me with the truth that my prayers do come rising before You—reaching all the way into Your Holy Presence.

May You always incline Your ear to the voice of my cries, hear the pleading of my heart, and answer me in love—according to Your perfect will and purpose for me.

Help me to truly believe that You watch and listen for anyone who will seek You with their whole heart!

In the Name of Jesus, Amen.

The Word of God

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

—Hebrews 4:12 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Thank You that Your Word is so much more than just words on a page. Thank You that it is alive and powerful in me!

Never let me forget that Your Word is filled with Your life and power as the Almighty God. For it tells me who You are—as my Creator, Sustainer, Redeemer, and Sanctifier—and tells me who I am as Your child, in Christ—so that when I go to Your Word and allow Your Word to wash over me, it heals me and makes me whole.

Help me to hear and understand Your Word—so that I can receive all the Truth that it contains into my heart. And then help me willingly and obediently apply that Truth to my life—as my loving and grateful response for all You have done for me.

Use Your Word to plunge deeply within me, to separate and expose the innermost thoughts and desires and motives of my soul and spirit—and to bring to light anything within me that is not in line with the Truth, so that I can repent and walk in the fullness of life to which You have called me.

Thank You that Your Word is so much more than just words on a page. Thank You that it is alive and powerful in me!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Alive and Powerful, Sharp and Cutting

The Road That Leads Us To Rest For Our Souls

This is what the LORD says:
“Stop at the crossroads and look around.
Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it.
Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.
But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’

—Jeremiah 6:16 (NLT)

O LORD, My God,

Save me from any rebellious tendency of my heart to wander from Your perfect path, the path that leads me to the very best that You have planned for me—the only path where I will find rest for my soul!  Let me never say, “No, that’s not the road I want!”

At every crossroads of life, help me to stop and look around—to take the time to carefully consider the ways that are set before me—and not just plow ahead following after my own fleshly desires or the ways of this world.

Remind me to ask, “What is the wise thing to do? The proven and godly way to go? The very best that You have for me?”—then grant me the faith to walk with You, my eyes fixed upon You, as You unfold Your plan before me, one step at a time.

Help me choose to travel the best path, knowing that along that path I will find rest for my soul—I will remain at peace and be filled with joy—as you provide, protect and keep me physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually whole.

Save me from any rebellious tendency of my heart to wander from Your perfect path, the path that leads me to the very best that You have planned for me—the only path where I will find rest for my soul!  Let me never say, “No, that’s not the road I want!”

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
