If Any of You Lacks Wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

—James 1:5 (ESV)

Heavenly Father,

In all my asking, may I never fail to ask You for wisdom—so that every decision I make might bring You glory, honor, and praise.

Grant me the kind of wisdom that only You can give—a wisdom that is founded upon a knowledge of the Truth of Your Word and forged in an understanding of how to practically apply that Truth to all of life’s challenges.

Grant me the kind of wisdom that transcends my human understanding—a wisdom that properly stands in awe of all that You are and all You have done; a wisdom that knows that everything good comes from You alone; a wisdom that trusts and obeys You. Speak to me, by Your Spirit, and empower me to make each next right choice.

Grant me the kind of wisdom that transforms my heart, purifies my every motive, and perfects me in love for others—a wisdom that moves me to take on the character of Christ—so that the Light of His Life can shine in me, through me, and all around me.

In all my asking, may I never fail to ask You for wisdom—so that every decision I make might bring You glory, honor, and praise.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Abide

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

John 15:7 (NASB)

Lord Jesus,

May I continually abide in You, keeping every word that You have spoken alive in my heart and proven out by the way I live my life. May my deepest desire always be that Your Will would be accomplished in me.

May I always live my life in You—being vitally and necessarily joined with You and making You the center of everything I think, say and do—always mindful that apart from You, I am nothing.

Cause Your words to remain in my heart—so I can remember to rely on them, continually contemplate them, use them as my strict standard for that which I do, graciously grow by them, carefully cling to them for my hope, and evermore establish them as the Truth in my life.

For I know that, in as much as I am truly able to do this, not only will my thoughts, words and actions be in harmony with Your plans and purposes for my life, but every desire of my heart will be conformed to Your will.

May I continually abide in You, keeping every word that You have spoken alive in my heart and proven out by the way I live my life. May my deepest desire always be that Your Will would be accomplished in me.

This I pray in Your Holy Name, Lord Jesus, Amen.

—John 15:7 (NASB)

Lord Jesus,

May I continually abide in You, keeping every word that You have spoken alive in my heart and proven out by the way I live my life.  May my deepest desire—as reflected by anything I might ask of You—always be that Your Will would be accomplished in me.

May I always live my life in You—being vitally and necessarily joined with You and making You the center of everything I think, say and do—always conscious that apart from You, I am nothing.

Cause Your words to remain in my heart—so I can remember to rely on them, continually contemplate them, use them as my strict standard for that which I do, graciously grow by them, carefully cling to them for my hope, and evermore establish them as the Truth in my life.

The Road That Leads Us To Rest For Our Souls

This is what the LORD says:
“Stop at the crossroads and look around.
Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it.
Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.
But you reply, ‘No, that’s not the road we want!’

—Jeremiah 6:16 (NLT)

O LORD, My God,

Save me from any rebellious tendency of my heart to wander from Your perfect path, the path that leads me to the very best that You have planned for me—the only path where I will find rest for my soul!  Let me never say, “No, that’s not the road I want!”

At every crossroads of life, help me to stop and look around—to take the time to carefully consider the ways that are set before me—and not just plow ahead following after my own fleshly desires or the ways of this world.

Remind me to ask, “What is the wise thing to do? The proven and godly way to go? The very best that You have for me?”—then grant me the faith to walk with You, my eyes fixed upon You, as You unfold Your plan before me, one step at a time.

Help me choose to travel the best path, knowing that along that path I will find rest for my soul—I will remain at peace and be filled with joy—as you provide, protect and keep me physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually whole.

Save me from any rebellious tendency of my heart to wander from Your perfect path, the path that leads me to the very best that You have planned for me—the only path where I will find rest for my soul!  Let me never say, “No, that’s not the road I want!”

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
