Trust

Trust in the LORD, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.

—Psalm 37:3 (NKJV)

Loving and Gracious LORD,

As I purpose to put all my trust in You, LORD, help me also actively seek to do good—so that I might dwell in the safety of Your Will for my life here on earth, and be fed by Your great faithfulness.

May I never claim to trust You by my words but then fail to demonstrate that trust through my obedience to Your Word. Help me hold fast to the truth that only through my obedience can I demonstrate the depth of my faith—and only by my faith can I please You.

Show me that when I am obedient to do that which is good, You are faithful to bless me with everything that I need to accomplish Your Will—to provide for every spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental need I have, according to Your plan and purpose for me.

Teach me that it is only within Your Will that I can find the satisfaction, peace and joy of true contentment. So let me feed on Your faithfulness to sustain me through everything that might come against me—as You prove Yourself forever faithful and true.

As I purpose to put all my trust in You, LORD, help me also actively seek to do good—so that I might dwell in the safety of Your Will for my life here on earth, and be fed by Your great faithfulness.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Be Still, Don't Worry

Be still in the presence of the LORD,
and wait patiently for him to act.
Don’t worry about evil people who prosper
or fret about their wicked schemes.

—Psalm 37:7 (NLT)

Loving LORD,

Bring me into the stillness and peace of Your presence and help me wait patiently for You to act, as You work in me, through me, and all around me. Don’t allow me to worry or fret over evil people, or their wicked schemes, but keep my eyes fixed on You.

Help me rest confidently in Your loving presence, far from the restless anxiousness that this life brings. Make me content to be where You have me now, and assured that You never stop working, never stop unfolding Your perfect plan.

Help me not to get caught up in fretting over those who seem to be getting away with their evil schemes—who make a game of life and appear to be winning, as they play that game by their own set of rules and leave the truth behind to chase after lies.

Help me remain in Your presence and live out my life within the protection that Your instructions promise, never compromising the truth. Help me remember that as I wait for You, You will set all things right—every hurt, every offense, every injustice—according to Your perfect timing, plan and purpose, and for Your greatest glory.

Bring me into the stillness and peace of Your presence and help me wait patiently for You to act, as You work in me, through me, and all around me. Don’t allow me to worry or fret over evil people, or their wicked schemes, but keep my eyes fixed on You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

The Blessing of the LORD

The LORD bless you and keep you;

the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;

the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

—Numbers 6:24-26 (NKJV)

Loving and Gracious LORD,

Let me fully receive Your blessing of pardon, protection, provision, peace, and joy with each new day!

Thank You for making Your blessing available to any person who opens his or her heart to receive it by faith, that they may be kept safe in every way, within that blessing.

Thank You for the way You make Your face to shine upon us, to smile on us, to enlighten us and give us comfort and life—just as the sun that You hung in space shines upon the earth and warms it to bring it life.

Thank You for lifting up Your countenance upon us in loving adoration—like a gentle and caring father who gazes upon his children with such amazing love that they are always at peace, assured of the special favor and unreserved acceptance that is theirs in Him.

Thank You that within Your blessing I am protected and provided for—by the power of the Creator of all things; I am pardoned for all my sin—by the gracious sacrifice of my Lord Jesus; and I have peace—because my Comforter, the Spirit of peace, lives within me.

Let me fully receive Your blessing of pardon, protection, provision, peace, and joy with each new day!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

The Things of Heaven

Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.  For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

—Colossians 3:2-3 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Let me live, having died to this life—taking no pleasure in the world’s evil enticements—being confident that my contentment, peace and joy can only be found in the home Christ has made within my heart.

Help me to fix my thoughts on the things of heaven—those things that have eternal value and meaning—rather than on the quickly fading distractions of this world, which would try to steal my heart away from You.

Help me to take on life from Your eternal perspective, so that the things of this world—and the lie of their promises to make me happy—will fall away as nothing, when compared to the glory of all that I can experience with You through Christ.

Help me to believe and to live, knowing my life is concealed and kept safe with Christ—that my salvation is sure, that it has already been accomplished, and that my eternal life with You is not some future event, but is both now and forevermore. Help me live obediently submitted to Your will.

Let me live, having died to this life—taking no pleasure in the world’s evil enticements—being confident that my contentment, peace and joy can only be found in the home Christ has made within my heart.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

As Light into the World

I have come as Light into the world, so that no one who believes in Me will remain in darkness.

—John 12:46 (NASB)

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank You for coming from heaven into our world as Light—so that we who believe would no longer have to remain in darkness but could live an abundant life in the Light of Truth.

Before I knew You, my life was darkened by my sinful nature. I didn’t have any real comfort, contentment, peace, joy, or hope. I didn’t know what love was. I lived in fear—because my life was full of lies. I did not live in the Truth.

Since I have believed in You, and received You as Light into my darkened heart, the Truth of Your Word has set free from those things that held me captive and kept me from living the abundant life that You have called me to live. Now, I am forever held in the Light of Your love.

So, no matter what evil may come, may I always choose to walk in the Truth—allowing the Light of Christ in me to radiate from me into this darkened world—so others might see and want the blessing of living that abundant life of peace, protection, provision, and purpose that only You can offer.

Thank You for coming from heaven into our world as Light—so that we who believe would no longer have to remain in darkness but could live an abundant life in the Light of Truth.

This I pray in Your Glorious Name, Lord Jesus, Amen.

Everything Through Christ

I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:12-13 (NLT)

Father God,

Help me hold onto the secret of living in every situation, with my eyes, my mind, and my heart fixed on Jesus Christ, the One who gives me all the strength I need to do everything that You ask me to do.

Help me remember that I can remain content if I keep a heart full of gratitude and faith—gratitude expressed by continual thankfulness for all the undeserved blessings of my life, and faith demonstrated by my unwavering confidence that You will always provide everything that I need to accomplish the plans and purposes You have for me.

Help me to rest in the truth that You provide for me out of Your unlimited knowledge, wisdom and understanding—that You completely know me and the good plans You have for me—while I have only a cloudy memory of where I have been, a partial understanding of where I am now, and by Your grace, perhaps a mere glimpse of where You are taking me.

Help me remember that the power You give to me through Christ is not so that I can do whatever I please with my life—or to have anything that I think I want—but rather that I might have the strength to do whatever You would require of me, whether I have little or plenty.

Help me hold onto the secret of living in every situation, with my eyes, my mind, and my heart fixed on Jesus Christ, the One who gives me all the strength I need to do everything that You ask me to do.
