Loving God Means Keeping His Commandments

Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome.  For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.  And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

—1 John 5:3-5 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me to love You ever more deeply with each new day and demonstrate my love for You through my obedience to Your commandments—as I achieve victory over this evil world by faith, by believing that Jesus is Your Son.

I know that when my obedience to You flows from my love for You, it is not a burden for me to obey Your commands, but rather a joy—which brings the blessings of peace, protection and provision to my life.

And though I am surrounded by the evil of this fallen world, You have given me the victory over it—as Your beloved child—and I claim and enforce this victory by believing that Jesus Christ is Your Son, and my Savior, and by making Him the Lord of my life.

So, let me walk more fully in victory through my faith in Jesus—as I fight to find a deeper love for You, a greater faith in You and a more obedient heart after You.

Help me to love You ever more deeply with each new day and demonstrate my love for You through my obedience to Your commandments—as I achieve victory over this evil world by faith, by believing that Jesus is Your Son.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
