My Hope and Confidence

But blessed are those who trust in the LORD
    and have made the L
ORD their hope and confidence.

Jeremiah 17:7 (NLT)

Faithful, Trustworthy, and Sovereign LORD GOD,

May I always trust You to be the One in whom I can confidently place all my hope—knowing that Your plans and purposes will always prevail and cannot be stopped.

You alone are the God who saves us—both in, and through, the trials of this life here and now, and beyond into the eternity that you have planned for all who have made Jesus Christ their Savior, and the Lord of their lives.

So, keep me from putting my confidence and hope in material things, like money or possessions, that will all fade away to nothing. For those things have no power to save my soul.

But also keep me from looking to human power to save me from the evil of this world—when You already have redeemed me, having broken the power of evil over me, and have given me victory and everlasting life in Christ Jesus.

And You have equipped me with everything I need to live an abundant life in Him, assured that—no matter what may come—I am Your dearly loved child and that I will never slip from Your grip.

May I always trust You to be the One in whom I can confidently place all my hope—knowing that Your plans and purposes will always prevail and cannot be stopped.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

My Hope and Confidence

—Jeremiah 17:7 (NLT)

Faithful, Trustworthy, and Sovereign LORD GOD,

May I always trust You to be the One in whom I can confidently place all of my hope—knowing that Your plans and purposes will always prevail, and cannot be stopped.

You alone are the God who saves us—both in, and through, the trials of this life here and now, and beyond, into the eternity that you have planned for all who have made Jesus Christ their Savior, and the Lord of their lives.

So keep me from putting my confidence and hope in material things that fade away to nothing—and have no power to save my soul.

But also keep me from looking to a person to save me from the evil of this world—when You already have me in the very palm of Your hand, and have assured me that I am Your dearly loved child, whom You will never let slip from Your grip.

May I always trust You to be the One in whom I can confidently place all of my hope—knowing that Your plans and purposes will always prevail, and cannot be stopped.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Only in Returning and Resting in the LORD

This is what the Sovereign LORD,
the Holy One of Israel, says:
“Only in returning to me
and resting in me will you be saved.
In quietness and confidence is your strength.
But you would have none of it.”

So the LORD must wait for you to come to him
so he can show you his love and compassion.
For the L
ORD is a faithful God.
Blessed are those who wait for his help.

—Isaiah 30:15, 18 (NLT)

Sovereign LORD,

Help me to find my help and salvation in returning and resting in You—in quietly and confidently drawing from the strength that can only be found in You—as I wait for that blessing of love and compassion which You are always faithful to give.

Thank You that, no matter how hard the circumstances that I face may be, I will always find my salvation in You—if I choose to come to You humbly and wait for You, rather than reject once again the only One who can truly help.

So make me quick to turn to You—to come into Your Holy Presence, to look to You to quiet my soul—as I confidently rest on Your promises, so that my strength will be renewed as You show me Your love and compassion.

And help me choose to remain in the strength and safety that I find in Your Presence—so that I would never fall to the temptation to put my hope in anyone or anything other than the mighty power of my Creator and Redeemer.

Help me to find my help and salvation in returning and resting in You—in quietly and confidently drawing from the strength that can only be found in You—as I wait for that blessing of love and compassion which You are always faithful to give.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Blessed, Nourished, Strong, and Steadfast

Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
    Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the L
ORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
    Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.

—Psalm 1:1-3 (NKJV)

Heavenly Father,

Help me to delight in being faithfully obedient to Your law.  Let it become my habit to meditate on Your precepts, instructions, and teachings both day and night.

Keep me from being a person who takes the advice of the ungodly to heart—or who follows after their example of bad behavior—only to find I have been led away from the Truth that can only be found in Your Word.

Keep me from being a person who stands around doing nothing, in the midst of an evil people who continue in pursuing their sinful ways, when I should be declaring the Truth of Your Word—having been motivated to such boldness by my great love for others.

Keep me from being a person who sits down, joining company with those who would dare to ridicule You and defiantly reject You—mocking the blessings that are made available to all of us, when we embrace the Truth of Your Word.

Let me be a person who has cultivated a desire to hold Your Word in his heart—whose best joy comes from considering, studying and meditating on the Truth of Your Word, at all times.

Let me be a person who is like a tree that was planted by the streams of water—nourished, strong and steadfast—producing the kind of fruit that brings blessing to all those around me, as I allow the Truth of Your Word to guide my life and bring glory to Your Name.

Help me to delight in being faithfully obedient to Your law.  Let it become my habit to meditate on Your precepts, instructions, and teachings both day and night.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
