I Will Delight Myself

I will meditate on Your precepts,
And contemplate Your ways.
I will delight myself in Your statutes;
I will not forget Your word.

—Psalm 119:15-16 (NKJV)

Loving LORD,

Let my heart be filled with Your Word—so that I would always consider Your ways and be careful never to forget the Truth of all that You have commanded me in Your Word.

Help me to contemplate those truths that have revealed to me the nature of who You are and the perfection of all Your ways—truths that have been revealed to me through Your written Word, through the words of others, and even by the words you have placed in my own mind and mouth, but always truths that have been brought to light by Your Spirit.

As I delight myself in Your statutes, don’t allow me to fail to apply those laws to my life that my life would be fruitful—for to fail to do so would be to fail to realize all the blessings of peace, joy, and freedom in which You have planned for me to walk.

Help me to understand that in Your Word, as I purpose to meditate on Your Word and not forget the Truth that I discover there, I find You—and in finding You I am made complete.

Let my heart be filled with Your Word—so that I would always consider Your ways and be careful never to forget the Truth of all that You have commanded me in Your Word.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Ask Whatever You Will

If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.

--John 15:7 (AMP)

Generous God,

Help me never forget that these words, from You, are not really about me getting anything I want, but rather are all about me being truly tuned in to what You want!

I want to live my life in You, being vitally and necessarily joined with You, as if my life depended on it—because in fact, it does.

I want to allow Your words to remain in my heart—so I can remember to rely on them, continually contemplate them, use them as my strict standard for that which I do, graciously grow by them, carefully cling to them for my hope, and evermore establish them as the Truth in my life.

I know that as much as I am truly able to do this, not only will my thoughts and actions, but every desire of my heart, be in harmony with Your plans for my life, and I will never ask for anything that is not in line with Your plan.

Help me never forget that these words, from You, are not really about me getting anything I want, but rather are all about me being truly tuned in to what You want!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
