Don't Drift Away!

So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.

—Hebrews 2:1 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Don’t allow me to drift away from the Truth! Help me instead to listen very carefully to the Truth that You speak into my life—through Your Word and through the witness of Your Spirit within me.

Help me to hold onto the precious gift of Truth that I have been given—Truth which continues to be revealed to me in proportion to my willingness and obedience to continue to read, study, believe, and apply Your Word to my life.

Help me to be careful to remember the Truth I have heard—by regularly meditating upon it—so that I will be ready to apply Your Truth to every situation or circumstance in which I find myself, as I mix my faith with Your Truth.

Help me to recognize and guard against the weakness of my mind. For Your Truth is so quick to drain from my heart when I allow the enemy to speak lies into my thoughts—or when I entertain the condemnation that he spews—as he tries to move me from the Truth I find in You.

Don’t allow me to drift away from the Truth! Help me instead to listen very carefully to the Truth that You speak into my life—through Your Word and through the witness of Your Spirit within me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Listening to the Truth We Have Heard

So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.

—Hebrews 2:1 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Don’t allow me to drift away from the Truth—but cause me to listen very carefully to the Truth that You speak into my life by Your Word and by the witness of Your Spirit within me.

Help me to hold onto the precious gift of Truth that I have been given—Truth which continues to be revealed to me in proportion to my willingness and obedience to continue to read and study Your Word.

Help me to be careful to remember the Truth I have heard—by regularly meditating upon it—so that I would be ready to apply Your Truth to every situation or circumstance in which I find myself, as I mix my faith with Your Truth.

Help me to recognize and guard against the weakness of my mind.  For Your Truth is so quick to drain from my heart when I allow the enemy to speak lies into my thoughts, or entertain the condemnation that he spews, as he tries to move me from the Truth I find in You.

Don’t allow me to drift away from the Truth—but cause me to listen very carefully to the Truth that You speak into my life by Your Word and by the witness of Your Spirit within me.

Only You, LORD, Can Satisfy Our Deep Need

I have heard all about you, LORD.
I am filled with awe by your amazing works.
In this time of our deep need,
help us again as you did in years gone by.
And in your anger,
    remember your mercy.

—Habakkuk 3:2 (NLT)

Merciful LORD,

In this time of our deep need, please help us once again!  Though we deserve Your anger, even still have mercy upon us according to Your loving-kindness!

As I search the words of Your Holy Scriptures, I am filled with awe and wonder—with reverential fear and respect—because of Your amazing works and the demonstrations of Your unlimited power and unfailing love for Your people.

I see the times that You have tempered Your anger toward the unfaithfulness of Your people with Your mercy—so that they were not completely destroyed and the glory of Your Name could continue to be proclaimed throughout the world by the remnants of the faithful.

Grant us Your mercy, that Your glory might yet shine from within us, that we would return to You in repentance, and find You waiting there to help us, just as You did in years gone by.

In this time of our deep need, please help us once again!  Though we deserve Your anger, even still have mercy upon us according to Your loving-kindness!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
