Only Believe

They replied, “We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?”

Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”

Heavenly Father,

Help me to remember, in every moment of every day, that the only work You want from me is that I would believe in Your Son, Jesus—so that by His power He might work, in me and through me, that work which is Yours alone to perform.

For it is only by faith that I have the power needed to accomplish anything good—for the works of God are Yours alone—and it is only when my heart is fixed on my faith in Your Son, that I have the honor of being used by You to be a part of what You are doing.

Don’t let me use these words to sit back and do nothing, but rather let me use them to remind me to keep the best things—my belief in Christ and His power at work in me—first in my life, that I might see You at work around me and out of my deep love for You, join in as Your Spirit prompts me.

So let me work to know the one You sent—to live in a close and ongoing relationship with Him—that my faith in Him would be made ever stronger and that I might be empowered by Him to be used by You to accomplish Your will.

Help me to remember, in every moment of every day, that the only work You want from me is that I would believe in Your Son, Jesus—so that by His power He might work, in me and through me, that work which is Yours alone to perform.

How Truly Great

Only fear the LORD and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; for consider how great are the things He has done for you.

Great and Glorious God,

Let my heart forever tremble within me at the greatness of Your Presence—and out of my gratefulness to You, may I faithfully serve You with all that I am.

Let every part of me be filled with awe because of Your great power and majesty—and with deepest respect and honor for who You are, I ask that You would grant me the privilege to serve You in any way that You see fit.

May my gratitude and thanksgiving for all that You have done for me continuously flow from my heart, permeating my thoughts, and guiding my actions as I move through each new day.

And may I never forget how truly great are the things that You have done for me—things which You have done out of Your truly great love for me.

Deeper Love, Greater Faith, More Obedient Heart

Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome.  For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith.  And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

Heavenly Father,

Help me to love You ever more deeply this day—and demonstrate my love by purposing in my heart to be obedient to all of Your commandments.

For when my obedience to You flows from my love for You, it is not a burden for me to obey, but rather a joy and a blessing in my life which brings me peace, protection and provision.

And though I am surrounded by the evil of this fallen world, I have been given the victory over it by my faith—because I am Your dearly loved child.

And I am Your child and can win this battle against the world because I have chosen to believe that Jesus is Your Son—and I have chosen to make Him my Lord.

So, help me to find victory over this evil world by fighting for a deeper love for You, a greater faith in You and a more obedient heart after You.

Help me to love You ever more deeply this day—and demonstrate my love by purposing in my heart to be obedient to all of Your commandments.
