What Is Good, What You Require Of Us

No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.

—Micah 6:8 (NLT)

Gracious LORD,

Thank You for giving us Your Word—for it is through Your Word we can know what is good and what You require of us.

Help me to do what is right.  Help me to discover Truth through Your Word and help me to believe the God that I believe in—fully trusting that You are loving, good and just in all Your ways—as I obediently apply what You show me to my every action and put away my will in order to follow You.

Help me to love mercy.  Out of an overwhelming gratefulness to You for the rich mercy that You continually pour over me—and an understanding that You offer that same merciful love to every one of us—let me be a loving vehicle of Your mercy to each person You put in my path.

Help me to walk humbly with You.
·        Keep me from lagging behind You—whether it is because of my own unwillingness, or a lack of faith in Your plans and purposes for me.
·        Keep me from running ahead of You—in my own arrogance, as if I knew the best way forward
·        Show me how to walk submissively with You—intent on discovering You and all that You have for me to learn.

Thank You for giving us Your Word—for it is through Your Word we can know what is good and what You require of us.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
