When the devil had finished every temptation, he [temporarily] left Him until a more opportune time.—Luke 4:13 (AMP)
Almighty God,
Help me remember that the devil never stops lying, that he never stops trying to deceive me—that even when it looks as if he has given up on coming against me, he is only waiting for a better opportunity to tempt me into sin.
Thank You that because of
Your Son, Jesus, I can have victory over the temptations that come my way—I am
no longer a slave to my sin.
Thank You that I can
resist the attacks of the enemy—that I resist him by knowing and speaking Your
Word, just as Christ did.
But don’t let me forget
that walking in a season where the temptations are not as frequent or as
strong, doesn’t mean that the enemy is finished trying.
Keep me mindful that I
must always stand guard over my heart, because the enemy will always be looking
for another opportunity to attack, when I least expect it.
Thank You for showing me that
my best defense against the devil is to stay in close fellowship with You—filling
my heart with the truth of Your Word and allowing Your Spirit to fill it with
Your presence and power—so that my weapon arsenal will be well stocked against
his next attack.
Help me remember that the devil never stops lying, that he never stops trying to deceive me—that even when it looks as if he has given up on coming against me, he is only waiting for a better opportunity to tempt me into sin.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
