Looking Out For Others

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

—Philippians 2:3-4 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Save me from my own self-centeredness and any impure, attention-seeking motive in me—so that I might walk in true humility and love others more than myself, just as Christ has loved me.

Help me not to be selfish—always looking at everything to see what’s in it for me, rather than how it might be an opportunity for me to be a part of what You are doing to benefit others.

Help me not to try to impress others—but rather, only do all I can to please You, as I follow Your “every moment” plan and purpose for me, by faith.

Keep me humble before You and before others—and help me to think of them as better than myself, so that I am never found arrogant, irritable or unapproachable.

Help me not to look out for my own interests alone—but make my first effort to look out for the interests of others.

Save me from my own self-centeredness and any impure, attention-seeking motive in me—so that I might walk in true humility and love others more than myself, just as Christ has loved me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen
