Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.—1 John 4:7-8 (NLT)
Heavenly Father,
Grant that, as I continue to grow in the knowledge of who You truly are, You would fill me to overflowing with Your perfect love—and grant that that same love, with which You have so graciously loved me, would pour out from me in love for others.
Show
me how all my attempts to love others will be fruitless, if I haven’t first
accepted Your love for me—and that I cannot truly accept Your love for me
without first knowing You and experiencing that intimate and personal
relationship with You through which You reveal Your great love.
Remind
me that I am Your child, made in Your
very own image! As such, I was created
to be a vehicle of Your love—to share Your love with others—that same love
which I have experienced in my own life as a result of knowing You.
Cause the gratitude that I
have for Your gracious love for me to move me to see others with Your eyes of
understanding, mercy, forgiveness, compassion and grace, and to make
intentional choices and take definitive actions to give of myself to others in
love—just as Christ did for me.
Grant that, as I continue to grow in the knowledge of who You truly are, You would fill me to overflowing with Your perfect love—and grant that that same love, with which You have so graciously loved me, would pour out from me in love for others.
