A Shelter for the Oppressed, a Refuge in Times of Trouble

The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed,
a refuge in times of trouble.
Those who know your name trust in you,
    for you, O L
ORD, do not abandon those who search for you.

—Psalm 9:9-10 (NLT)

Loving LORD,

Thank You that You never turn away from those who search for You, but rather, You allow Yourself to be found, so that we can know Your Name and place all our trust in You—and in You find shelter from oppression and refuge from all our troubles.

Thank You that the more I seek You, the more I can come to know the power and perfection of Your Holy Name—and the character of the One whose Name is above all names—as I become personally and intimately acquainted with You.

Thank You that when I put my trust in You, You become my place of refuge—a high and strong tower of safety and peace for my soul—even in the midst of the oppressive storms of trouble that may surround me on every side.

And though, in this world, I cannot escape the trouble and suffering that comes to us all, by Your grace and mercy You are always here with me to carry me safely through it all in perfect peace—using it all together for my ultimate good.

Thank You that You never turn away from those who search for You, but rather, You allow Yourself to be found, so that we can know Your Name and place all our trust in You—and in You find shelter from oppression and refuge from all our troubles.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
