The Lamp That Lights My Way

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path.

—Psalm 119:105 (NLT)

 Heavenly Father,

Help me to take up the lamp of Your Word and let it light my way.

You have given me Your Word that I might learn truth from You—truth about You, about myself, about right and wrong and good and evil, and about Your great plan for my life.

When I study Your Word, I discover things I would not know otherwise—because the light of Your Word illuminates the darkness for me—making it possible for me to see Your Truth.

You gave me Your Word to be a lamp to guide my feet, so that when I carry the lamp of Your Word within me, I can see clearly each step that I am taking and I do not have to fall—because of my thoughts, words, or actions—as I move through this life.

You gave me Your Word to be a light for my path, so that as I move forward in faith—trusting You to continue to illuminate the path before me and knowing that only You know the turns my path might take—You will safely lead me all the way home to You.

Help me to take up the lamp of Your Word and let it light my way.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Your Paths Of Life For Me

Let those who are wise understand these things.
Let those with discernment listen carefully.
The paths of the Lord are true and right,
and righteous people live by walking in them.
But in those paths sinners stumble and fall.

—Hosea 14:9 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Grant me wisdom and discernment that I might listen carefully to Your voice and understand how to walk uprightly in Your paths of life for me.

Your paths are altogether true and right, and they lead to life—life as You intended it to be.

Help me to walk in right-standing with You, in a right relationship with You, so that I might find life more abundant—as I choose to listen, seek to learn, and hope to receive, all of the benefits of a life lived by Your plans and purposes.

Help me to see that the more I allow You to be my guide along Your paths of life for me, the more You will illuminate my way and keep me walking uprightly.

Help me to guard against allowing my sinful nature to have its way in me, which can only lead me into total darkness—where I will stumble, fall, and lose all hope.

Grant me wisdom and discernment that I might listen carefully to Your voice and understand how to walk uprightly in Your paths of life for me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
