Hear me as I pray, O LORD.
Be merciful and answer me!
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.”
And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.”—Psalm 27:7-8 (NLT)
Heavenly Father,
Help me to appreciate that it is only by the righteousness of Jesus Christ that I have even gained an audience before You and not because I, in myself, have somehow earned—or could ever earn—that right.
Help me to approach Your
throne of mercy and grace with reverence and awe—with overflowing gratitude for
the amazing love which You have shown to me.
Help me to know that You hear
me when I cry out to You and that You answer me—in Your perfect timing and according
to Your sovereign purpose and plan for my life.
In my heart, I hear You continuously
calling me to come to You and seek Your face—to spend time in conversation with
You, that I might know You better.
My heart sincerely responds
to Your call saying, “LORD, I am coming”—but my flesh is weak and the enemy is working
hard against me, to keep me from Your presence.
Grant me the strength to
accept Your gracious invitation into Your presence—knowing that there I will find
everything that I need to travel my path through this life here on earth, with
joy unspeakable and a peace that passes understanding.
Help me to appreciate that it is only by the righteousness of Jesus Christ that I have even gained an audience before You and not because I, in myself, have somehow earned—or ever could earn—that right.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
