Only Here Temporarily

For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.

Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.  And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.

—Hebrews 13:14-16 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

May I continually give You praise through Your Son, Jesus, in my thoughts, words and actions, as I journey on toward home.

Help me not to get so caught up in gathering the things of this world to myself that I lose sight of the fact that this world is only a temporary stop on my way to my permanent home with You—a place which Christ has already prepared for me.

Remind me that what I gather here, must remain here, and only what I give away here can be measured for eternity.

So may I joyfully and continually give a sacrifice of praise to You—giving thanks to You and boldly proclaiming to others the reason for my allegiance to Christ.

And may I willingly do good at all times and freely share with others everything You have given me to use while I remain here on earth—things that are both tangible and intangible—so that I might please You and so my time spent here on earth will count for eternity.

May I continually give You praise through Your Son, Jesus, in my thoughts, words and actions, as I journey on toward home.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
