Clinging To Christ

Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.

—1 Timothy 1:19 (NLT)

Precious Father,

May I always, tenaciously hold on to my faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ, that I might live out the rest of my days with a clear conscience—having been careful to respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit in me.

I know that I must entirely depend on my faith in Jesus Christ to see me through every situation that I encounter and that I must listen to the Spirit of God speaking through my conscience to guide me in the way that I should go.

I know that to override my conscience is to violate my faith, to harden my heart, to weaken my capacity to tell right from wrong, and to diminish my belief in the power of Christ to protect and save me out of my circumstance.  I know to go down that path only leads me to ruin.

I want to treasure my faith in Christ more than I treasure anything else and submit my will to the tugging of the Holy Spirit at my heart, so my conscience remains clear and my faith remains strong.  I know by doing so, I can keep myself from the traps the enemy has set along my way to destroy me.

May I always, tenaciously hold on to my faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ, and that I might live out the rest of my days with a clear conscience— having been careful to respond to the promptings of the Holy Spirit in me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
