Contentment And Strength Through Christ

I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

—Philippians 4:12-13 (NLT)

Father God,

Help me to remain content at all times, by staying focused on the one person whose presence in my life gives me the strength I need for every situation that I face—my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Don’t let me forget that Your vantage point is much higher than mine—that You completely know and understand all the details of my unfolding life—while I have only a cloudy memory of where I have been, a partial understanding of where I am now, and by Your grace, perhaps a mere glimpse of where I am going.

Help me remember that the power You give to me through Christ is not so that I can do whatever I please with my life, but that I might have the strength to do whatever You would require of me—in order to accomplish Your will, Your plans and Your purposes for my life.

Help me to keep my mind alert to the things that You want me to do, seeking to understand Your perspective, and drawing on Your power as I face the challenges of each trial and every trouble that this short life here on earth may throw my way.

Help me to remain content at all times, by staying focused on the one person whose presence in my life gives me the strength I need for every situation that I face—my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
