Come and listen, all you who fear God,
and I will tell you what he did for me.
For I cried out to him for help,
praising him as I spoke.
If I had not confessed the sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened.
But God did listen!
He paid attention to my prayer.
Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer
or withdraw his unfailing love from me.—Psalm 66:16-20 (NLT)
Heavenly Father,
I praise You, God, for You do not ignore my prayers—but You listen and lavish Your unfailing love on me!
Let me boldly declare, to
anyone who will listen, but especially to those who fear You, the marvelous
things You have done for me—not in a prideful way, but only to give honor and
praise to You and as an encouragement to others to put their hope in You.
For You are my hope and it
is to You alone that I cry out for help, praising Your greatness all the while—for
I know the power of the One from whom my help comes.
Keep me mindful, though,
of the futility of coming before You, harboring any sin in my heart—treating it
as if it were my friend—rather than confessing and repenting of it, in order
that my prayers would continue to be heard and answered according to Your great
love for me.
And though I am still a
sinful man, when You look upon my heart, may You find within me, not a heart
after sin, but a heart after Your own heart.
I praise You, God, for You do not ignore my prayers—but You listen and lavish Your unfailing love on me!
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
