Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.—Colossians 3:1-3 (NLT)
Heavenly Father,
Since I have received this new life with Christ—having chosen Christ to be Lord of my life—help me to put to death my earthly nature, determine to search out Your eternal perspective, and allow the life of Christ to live in me and change me into the person I should be.
Help me daily to turn my
back and flee from earthly temptations—which lead me to be self-focused, materialistic,
pleasure seeking and superficial—and help me instead to be wholly committed to
loving You and loving others according to Your will.
Help me to fill my
thoughts with Your thoughts—in order to see things as You do—so that my desires
become those things that You desire and my actions become an outflow of my love
for You.
Help me to keep in
perspective my time here on earth, by comparing it to the glorious forever that
I have been promised with You.
And help me to understand
that eternal life is mine to enjoy now, because my real life is
hidden—concealed and kept safe—with Christ in You.
