Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.—1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)
Gracious and Loving God,
No matter the circumstances in which I find myself, grant that I would always remain thankful, confidently trusting that Your love for me—that the very best that You have for me—is far beyond my capacity to comprehend.
When things are good, do
not allow me to forget that it is by Your unmerited favor that I am blessed and
that I must never take those blessings for granted—but always use the opportunities
that I am given to bring You honor and glory.
When things seem not so good, help me to see Your
Spirit at work in me, teaching me things I do not know; to look for Your hand
working through me for the benefit of others; and to be assured that You are at
work all around me, as I watch Your plan to
work all things for good unfold before me.
When I feel overwhelmed by
the hardships of this life, remind me that You are always with me to keep me in
perfect peace and safety—sustaining me in every way: physically, mentally,
emotionally, and spiritually—when I will allow You to carry my burdens for me.
So, I ask that not my
will, but Your will be done in my life—for I know that Your plans and purposes
for my life are far better than my own could ever be.
No matter the circumstances in which I find myself, grant that I would always remain thankful, confidently trusting that Your love for me—that the very best that You have for me—is far beyond my capacity to comprehend.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
