Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.—Galatians 6:2-3 (NLT)
Heavenly Father,
Don’t allow me to get so caught up in myself that I neglect my responsibility to obey the law of loving others with Christ-like love—actively looking for ways to help them.
By Your Spirit, show me
how best to help bear others’ burdens, in order that they would be encouraged
and their load of care would be lightened—and that in helping I might experience
the blessing of joy that comes when I am faithful to love as Christ loves.
Keep me from fooling
myself into thinking that I am something that I am not—that I am somehow too
special or too important to help others, anytime those opportunities present
themselves.
And remind me, when I
start to become too self-focused, that Jesus, Himself, wasn’t too important to stop
to help others—and most assuredly, I am
not that important!
Don’t allow me to get so caught up in myself that I neglect my responsibility to obey the law of loving others with Christ-like love—actively looking for ways to help them.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
