Far Beyond

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.”

—Isaiah 55:8 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

When I am confused about things that I am going through, help me to see that though I am limited in my own power to understand, You will be gracious to reveal things I could never come to understand on my own, if I put all my trust in You and wait patiently for You to show me—according to Your perfect timing—that which I need to know to remain in Your will.

You are the Sovereign LORD—my infinitely powerful, infinitely present, infinitely wise, infinitely loving, Heavenly Father!  Your greatness is far beyond my capacity to grasp!  Why would I ever depend on my own understanding—and assume that You would think as I do?

Show me how the finiteness of my mind, the weakness of my heart and sin’s assault on Truth—which distorts my thinking—keep me from fully understanding Your thoughts and ways and plans and purposes for me.

And let me not forget how I am totally dependent on You—that I might more fully trust in Your love for me. Help me to see how You have complete knowledge of—and make complete provision for—everything that I need to accomplish Your will for me.

Draw me close and help me to see—and pursue—this truth:  that a greater understanding of who You are and what You are allowing me to go through, will only come from a more personal and intimate and trusting relationship with You.

When I am confused about things that I am going through, help me to see that though I am limited in my own power to understand, You will be gracious to reveal things I could never come to understand on my own, if I put all my trust in You and wait patiently for You to show me—according to Your perfect timing—that which I need to know to remain in Your will.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
