Whatever You Would Like, Do That For Others

“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.”

—Matthew 7:12 (NLT)

Dear Heavenly Father,

May I always take the initiative to be actively good and merciful toward others—just as I would want them to be toward me.

Just as Jesus commanded me, help me to go beyond refraining from hurting others, and also look for ways that I can do something good for them today—both through my words and my actions.

Help me to prove my love for You, Father, by loving others in the same way that I would want to be loved—in the same way that I have been loved by You.

And just as You have poured over me immeasurable love with mercy, kindness, goodness, gentleness, patience, compassion, and grace, let me pour out all these things on others—as You empower me by Your Spirit to fulfill the law of Christ.

May I always take the initiative to be actively good and merciful toward others—just as I would want them to be toward me.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
