A Servant of Christ

 

Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Heavenly Father,

 

May I always seek the approval of my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ—the One to whom I choose to surrender myself, as a servant, forever! 

 

Forgive me, for too many times I have sought the approval others—allowing what they think to determine my decisions, and thus, the course of my life—while disregarding what is required of me to win Your approval, O Lord my God.

 

I know that to win Your approval, I must completely set aside my own will—breaking down all my fleshly impulses to act independently of the One who created me for His purposes—and live every moment of my life in service to Christ.

Each day, let me surrender my life anew—signing away my own “perceived rights” to my life and living in absolute surrender to Christ—so that I may be found to be a true bondservant to the One to whom I owe everything.

To Be a Bond-Servant of Christ

May the only approval that I seek, be the approval of my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ—the One to whom I choose to surrender myself, as a bond-servant, forever!

Forgive me, for too many times I have sought the approval of my fellow human beings—allowing what they think to determine my decisions, and thus, the course of my life—all the while disregarding what it takes for me to win Your approval, O Lord my God.

I know that to win Your approval, I must completely set my own will aside—breaking down any of my fleshly desires to act independently from the One who created me for His purposes—and live every moment of my life in service to Christ, so that I can bring glory, honor, and praise to Him.

Each day, let me surrender my life anew—signing away my own “perceived rights” to my life and living in absolute surrender to Christ—so that I may be found to be a true bond-servant to the One to whom I owe everything.

May the only approval that I seek, be the approval of my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ—the One to whom I choose to surrender myself, as a bond-servant, forever!

The Foundation Of Wisdom

Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom.
    Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.

—Proverbs 9:10 (NLT)

Holy God,

Help me to live fully aware of that one foundation upon which wisdom is built and, out of my reverential fear of You, commit to knowing You more intimately—that my judgement might always be good and the choices I make would always be wise.

I don’t want to stumble through life, carelessly making foolish decisions without regard to whether I am first seeking out Your will, plan and purpose for me—when You have made Your paths of wisdom available for me to walk down.

So help me to stand in Your Presence, overwhelmed by Your Holiness, Power and Majesty—fearing Your wrath, yet trusting in Your mercy, grace and forgiveness, and completely dependent upon You to direct me according to Your unfailing love for me.

Help me to know You more—more deeply, more completely, more intimately—so that my knowledge of Your ways would help me to make wise choices which reflect good judgement and bring glory and honor to You.

Help me to live fully aware of that one foundation upon which wisdom is built and, out of my reverential fear of You, commit to knowing You more intimately—that my judgement might always be good and the choices I make would always be wise.

The One Who Is Worthy Of The Glory

Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways!

   For who can know the Lord’s thoughts?
    Who knows enough to give him advice?
   And who has given him so much
    that he needs to pay it back?

 For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory.  All glory to him forever! Amen.

Romans 11:33-36  (NLT)

Dear God,

May I never fail to give You all of the glory—for all that I have and for all that I am!  For all things come from You and exist by Your power and are intended for Your glory!

Sometimes, I think I’m pretty smart.  But then I am reminded that what I know is so very small when compared to the great riches of Your wisdom and Your knowledge.  How could I ever hope to really understand all Your decisions and all of Your ways?!

Nobody can know Your thoughts, nor can anyone understand so much that he should advise You on anything!  Nor can anyone give You so much that You would owe them anything!

Yet, in Your mercy, You show me what I need to know and ask me, by faith, to trust You with the rest.

I am grateful that I am not the One who holds it all together, and even more grateful that I can rest in the fact that You do just that—You hold it all together by the power of Your might and for Your glory!

May I never fail to give You all of the glory—for all that I have and for all that I am!  For all things come from You and exist by Your power and are intended for Your glory!
