Persistent Pursuit For More Of You

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.  Keep on seeking, and you will find.  Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives.  Everyone who seeks, finds.  And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

—Matthew 7:7-8 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me to be persistent in my pursuit to learn more about You—that I might live in that close, personal, intimate relationship with You, that You made available to me through Christ.

Help me as I seek to be intentional and purposeful about my search for Your heart—and keep me from settling for a half-hearted, haphazard approach to discovering who You are and understanding Your plans and purposes for my life.

Help me to keep asking You for those good things that You want me to have—things like knowledge and understanding of Your ways, wisdom to discern the truth in every situation, and mercy, love, and compassion for others.

Help me to keep knocking at the door of Your heart, knowing that You will always answer me and welcome me into Your Presence—as I come to You believing with my whole heart that You take great delight in showing me things I do not know.

Help me to be persistent in my pursuit to learn more about You—that I might live in that close, personal, intimate relationship with You, that You made available to me through Christ.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Persistent Pursuit

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for.  Keep on seeking, and you will find.  Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives.  Everyone who seeks, finds.  And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

—Matthew 7:7-8 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me to remain both persistent and pursuing in my search to have more of You in my life.

I don’t want to take a half-hearted, haphazard approach to knowing You and Your will for my life.  I want to be intentional and purposeful about my pursuit of Your heart.

I want to keep asking You for those good things that You want me to have—things like knowledge and understanding of Your ways, wisdom to discern the truth in every situation, and compassion and love for others.

I want to look for Your hand at work all around me—in nature, through situations, by my experiences, and as manifested in the lives of the people in my life—so that I will see and know that You are always here with me and be encouraged by Your presence.

I want to keep knocking at the door of Your heart, knowing that You will always welcome me in, and show me things I do not know, whenever I come to You in faith.

Help me to remain both persistent and pursuing in my search to have more of You in my life.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
