Confess, Turn, and Receive Mercy!

 

 

People who conceal their sins will not prosper,

    but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.

Merciful and Compassionate LORD,

 

Keep me from the foolishness of trying to conceal my sins. Help me to confess and turn from them, so that I will receive mercy.

 

By Your Holy Spirit, convict me of my sins—and expose the evil that they contain and the power that they have to destroy me—so that I might learn from my sins and not repeat them. 

 

Help me willingly and openly confess my sins to You, for You already know them; tremble before Your justice, knowing that I deserve punishment; and fall upon Your mercy and grace, that I may be delivered from them through Your promise of forgiveness.

 

Help me to truly repent of my sins—to turn away from them and run the other direction, straight into Your merciful and compassionate arms of love. Then let me glorify You for the unmerited favor that You pour over me.

To Confess and Turn From Our Sins

 

People who conceal their sins will not prosper,

Merciful and Compassionate LORD,

Keep me from the foolishness of concealing my sins, and help me to confess them, and turn from them, so that I will receive mercy.

I don’t want to be a person that refuses to even acknowledge my sins.  So, help me to examine my sins carefully for the evil that they contain—and the power that they have to destroy me—so that I might learn from my sins and not repeat them. 

Help me willingly and openly confess my sins—that in doing so I might honor Your greatness, for You already know all things; tremble before Your justice, knowing that I deserve punishment; and fall upon Your mercy and grace, in order to be delivered through Your promise of forgiveness.

Help me to truly repent of my sins—to turn away from them and run the other direction—straight into Your merciful and compassionate arms of love—and in doing so, bring glory to You for the gift of unmerited favor that You have poured out on me.

Created Anew To Do Good

God saved you by his grace when you believed.  And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.  Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.  For we are God’s masterpiece.  He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

—Ephesians 2:8-10 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me to remember that You created me anew in Christ Jesus to be one of Your masterpieces—that I might do the good things that You planned for me long ago.

Thank you for saving me by Your grace—Your unmerited favor—when I made the choice to believe You.

Always keep me mindful that I didn’t earn my salvation, nor do I in any way deserve it because of anything that I did—or might yet do.  I simply and freely received salvation when I opened my heart to You and invited You into my life by faith.

When I speak of my salvation, help me give all the glory and praise to You—for Your merciful grace which made it possible—so that I might point others to You that they, too, might be saved.

And when I do any good thing, let me give all the glory and praise to You.  For You are the One Who created me to do good—and the power to do good does not come from me, but comes from Christ in me.

Don’t let me lose sight of the fact that You planned long ago for me to do the good things that I do—that by my re-creation in Christ You have masterfully and uniquely designed and equipped me to do them according to Your plan—so that my life might glorify You.

Help me to remember that You created me anew in Christ Jesus to be one of Your masterpieces—that I might do the good things that You planned for me long ago.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the Good News that was shared with me—that my relationship with You might be changed forever—and for choosing me to help spread this Good News to change other lives all over the world, as I share the truth of Your wonderful grace.

Wherever I go, help me to share the truth of Your wonderful unmerited favor and unfailing love—as told through the story of my life.

Help me to show others how Your Word—and the Good News contained therein—did far more than just inform me about the things I wasn’t doing right.

Help me to show them how it transformed me from the inside out and gave me a whole, new, and right relationship with You—and how that transformation brought me a whole new purpose, with meaningful direction, which changed my attitudes and behaviors.

Help me to express how wonderful it is to live for You—in humble gratitude and obedience to Your will—after receiving the undeserved and unearned gift of eternal life with You.

Thank You for the Good News that was shared with me—that my relationship with You might be changed forever—and for choosing me to help spread this Good News to change other lives all over the world, as I share the truth of Your wonderful grace.
