God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.—Ephesians 2:8-10 (NLT)
Heavenly Father,
Help me to remember that You created me anew in Christ Jesus to be one of Your masterpieces—that I might do the good things that You planned for me long ago.
Thank you for saving me by
Your grace—Your unmerited favor—when I made the choice to believe You.
Always keep me mindful that
I didn’t earn my salvation, nor do I in any way deserve it because of anything
that I did—or might yet do. I simply and
freely received salvation when I opened my heart to You and invited You into my
life by faith.
When I speak of my
salvation, help me give all the glory and praise to You—for Your merciful grace
which made it possible—so that I might point others to You that they, too,
might be saved.
And when I do any good
thing, let me give all the glory and praise to You. For You are the One Who created me to do good—and
the power to do good does not come from me, but comes from Christ in me.
Don’t let me lose sight of
the fact that You planned long ago for me to do the good things that I do—that by my re-creation in Christ You have
masterfully and uniquely designed and equipped me to do them according to Your
plan—so that my life might glorify You.
Help me to remember that You created me anew in Christ Jesus to be one of Your masterpieces—that I might do the good things that You planned for me long ago.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
