In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
--Romans 12:6-8 (NLT)
Heavenly
Father,
Thank You for the gifts that You have given me for doing certain things well.
Help me to
be aware of the things that I do well, so that I can focus my energy there.
Help me to
understand that there are things that You have gifted me for—and there
are things that You have chosen not to gift me for—according to Your design, so
that I might share my gifts with others and allow them to share their gifts
with me.
Help me to
understand that because You gift each of us uniquely, I don’t have to become
overwhelmed by trying to do everything, but I can concentrate my efforts on
those things that You have put on the inside of me that I am good at doing.
Help me to
remember that the gifts that You placed in me were placed there with a purpose—and
that purpose was so that I would use those gifts, not for selfish personal
gain, but rather so that I could use them in service to You by helping others.
Help me be
aware of the opportunities that You put before me to serve others and willingly
use what You have given me, not holding anything back.
Thank You for the gifts that You have given me for doing certain things well.
In the name
of Jesus, Amen.
