“Look at the proud!
They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked.
But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.”—Habakkuk 2:4 (NLT)
Heavenly Father,
Empty me of any pride that I might have—outside of Your power at work in me—so that You always receive the glory for any good found in me and my life might be lived in total dependence upon You.
I don’t want to ever find
myself trusting in my own strength or abilities, for if I were to do so, then I
would be guilty of allowing my heart to become crooked within me—having not
relied only on Your power at work in me—and will have compromised my standing
with You.
And if my heart becomes
crooked—having denied You as my only source of strength and ability—then my
whole life will have been set on a path of destruction and ruin.
I want to be Your
righteous child—trusting that my righteousness only comes from Christ’s
sacrifice of His life for mine—and demonstrating that I believe this to be true
by living out my life in steadfast reliance on Your power to preserve me in
every way, until that day when You take me home to be with You forever there.
Empty me of any pride that I might have—outside of Your power at work in me—so that You always receive the glory for any good found in me and my life might be lived in total dependence upon You.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
