Living By Faithfulness To God

“Look at the proud!
They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked.
But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.”

—Habakkuk 2:4 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Empty me of any pride that I might have—outside of Your power at work in me—so that You always receive the glory for any good found in me and my life might be lived in total dependence upon You.

I don’t want to ever find myself trusting in my own strength or abilities, for if I were to do so, then I would be guilty of allowing my heart to become crooked within me—having not relied only on Your power at work in me—and will have compromised my standing with You.

And if my heart becomes crooked—having denied You as my only source of strength and ability—then my whole life will have been set on a path of destruction and ruin.

I want to be Your righteous child—trusting that my righteousness only comes from Christ’s sacrifice of His life for mine—and demonstrating that I believe this to be true by living out my life in steadfast reliance on Your power to preserve me in every way, until that day when You take me home to be with You forever there.

Empty me of any pride that I might have—outside of Your power at work in me—so that You always receive the glory for any good found in me and my life might be lived in total dependence upon You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Don't Give Up On Me

As I learn your righteous regulations,
I will thank you by living as I should!
I will obey your decrees.
Please don’t give up on me!

—Psalm 119:7-8 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Please don’t give up on me—don’t leave me to my own understanding and wisdom—but continue in Your unrelenting, passionate, pursuit of my heart, by patiently guiding me to Your truth.

Help me to come to fully understand Your righteous regulations.  Let them permeate my heart—through my experience of walking with You each day—as through Your Spirit You reveal their purpose in protecting, providing for, and preserving my life.

Let my response to this understanding be one of heartfelt thanksgiving and praise to You—not only in my thoughts and words, but even more so in the way I live my life—so that my entire life might become a continuous praise offered to You!

It is my desire to willingly and completely obey You—trusting that because of Your unfailing and unlimited love for me, You will always show me how I can experience Your very best for me.

Please don’t give up on me—don’t leave me to my own understanding and wisdom—but continue in Your unrelenting, passionate, pursuit of my heart, by patiently guiding me to Your truth.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
