Even The Appearance Of Evil

Keep away from everything that even looks like sin.

—1 Thessalonians 5:22 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Since I have been given the freedom to choose not to sin—because Christ has broken sin’s power over me—help me to keep away from everything that even looks like sin.

Help me to walk with integrity and purity of heart—guarding my reputation with great diligence, because I am called to be a representative of Christ, Himself.

Help me to abstain from evil of any kind, abstain from even the appearance of evil—from sin and from anything that might even look like it could be sin.

Help me to be focused on keeping myself as far from evil as possible, rather than seeing how close I can come to evil—and still not sin.

Help me always to seek out the Light—always moving toward true holiness—rather than to entertain myself with the things of this world’s darkness.

Since I have been given the freedom to choose not to sin—because Christ has broken sin’s power over me—help me to keep away from everything that even looks like sin.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
