Thinking That Pleases The Spirit

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.

So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

—Romans 8:5-6 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

In response to Your love and presence both within me and all around me, may I submit all of my control over my mind to Your Spirit—so that I am able to walk in the paths that lead to life and peace.

Thank You for rescuing me from that time when I allowed my sinful nature to dominate my thoughts and dictate my actions—for I was truly on the pathway that leads to destruction and death.

Thank You that, because I have accepted Jesus as my Savior, I have the gift of Your Holy Spirit within me—who enables me to know what is good and right and pleasing to You, and helps me to think as I should.

Thank You for showing me that in order to check my walk—in order to make sure my pathway is leading me to life and peace—all I need to do is to check what I am allowing to control my thinking, because how I am thinking will determine the path that I follow.

In response to Your love and presence both within me and all around me, may I submit all of my control over my mind to Your Spirit—so that I am able to walk in the paths that lead to life and peace.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
