Living Honestly With Myself

Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.

—Romans 12:3b (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me to live honestly with myself, as I measure myself only by the faith I have been given to believe that all good things I have within me—and any good that I might do—comes by Your hand alone.

Don’t allow me to become puffed up—thinking that I am something in myself—but help me to evaluate myself honestly and accurately, realizing that You are the author of all things good.

Help me escape the danger of judging my worth by any of the world’s standards—which lead me to think too much about how much I am worth in the eyes of others and cause me to miss discovering my true value in Your eyes.

Help me properly judge my value based on who You have shown me that I am in Christ, as I use the gifts You have given me for Your glory only—rather than to promote my own self-worth in the eyes of others.

Increase my faith to be able to operate in that place into which You have called me, gifted me, and equipped me, so that I might boldly serve You—while I remain totally dependent on You and walk humbly before You.

Help me to live honestly with myself, as I measure myself only by the faith I have been given to believe that all good things I have within me—and any good that I might do—comes by Your hand alone.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
