Your Word, A Lamp And A Light

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
    and a light for my path.

—Psalm 119:105 (NLT)

 Heavenly Father,

Help me to take up the lamp of Your Word, discover the Truth that it holds, and let it light my way—through the perils of this world, as I journey home to You.

You have given me Your Word that I might learn Truth from You—Truth about You, about myself, about right and wrong and good and evil, and about Your great plan for my life.

When I study Your Word, I discover things I would not know otherwise—because the light of Your Word illuminates the darkness for me—making it possible for me to see Your Truth.

You gave me Your Word to be a lamp to guide my feet, so that when I carry the lamp of Your Word within me, I can see clearly each step that I am taking and I do not have to fall—in my thoughts, words, or actions—as I move through this life.

You gave me Your Word to be a light for my path, so that as I move forward in faith—as I trust You to continue to illuminate the path before me, knowing that only You know the turns my path might take—You will safely lead me all the way home to You.

Help me to take up the lamp of Your Word, discover the Truth that it holds, and let it light my way—through the perils of this world, as I journey home to You.

But If You Remain

But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!

—John 15:7 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me to remain in You and to allow Your words to remain in me—so that those things that I want, would be the very things that You want.

Help me to focus on the “if” in this promise, so that I will remain continually, vitally, and necessarily joined to You—abiding with You—as if my life depended on it, because in fact, it does!

Help me hold Your words captive in my heart—help me to rely on them, continually contemplate them, use them as my strict standard for that which I do, graciously grow by them, carefully cling to them for my hope, and evermore establish them as the Truth in my life.

I know that in as much as I am truly able to do this, not only will my thoughts, words and actions be in harmony with Your plans and purposes for my life, but every desire of my heart and every request that I make will be conformed to Your will.

Help me to remain in You and to allow Your words to remain in me—so that those things that I want, would be the very things that You want.

Which Path To Take

Trust in the LORD with all your heart;
    do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
    and he will show you which path to take.

Sovereign and Loving LORD,

Help me to trust You to show me the path You have for me.

Help me to lean only on You, to trust You completely, and to remain confident that You have great plans for me—as I commit my love and my life to You, with all of my heart, soul and strength.

Help me not to depend on my own limited insights or understanding of things, but rather help me to trust in Your sovereign, unlimited wisdom and understanding—knowing You love me and always want the best for me.

Help me understand that as I choose to trust You—more than I trust myself—You will show me what I should do and will remove every obstacle from my path, in order to bring me to that place where You have called me to stand and serve.

Help me to trust You to show me the path You have for me.
