In The Secret Place

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

—Psalm 91:1 (NKJV)

Almighty God,

Let me forever live in Your secret, sheltering place—that place where I find serenity, security, and safety—in that place that You have prepared for me in Your very presence.

Help me remember that I am drawn into that secret place when I live in constant, prayerful communion with You, as I allow You to fill me with the truth of Your Word, as revealed by Your Spirit—and as I make that choice to believe Your promises to me.

Help me to find my place of rest in Your shadow—in close proximity to You, under Your covering, firmly held in Your everlasting arms of love.

Help me not to wander in and out of that secret place, but rather, make it my place of permanent residence—so I can remain under Your protection, where You are my rescue, refuge and rest, my only hope, forevermore.

Let me forever live in Your secret, sheltering place—that place where I find serenity, security, and safety—in that place that You have prepared for me in Your very presence.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

You Cannot Mock The Justice Of God

Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.  Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

—Galatians 6:7-8 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me live to please Your Spirit, so that I may reap the benefits of harvesting the best that You have for me here—in this world—and look forward, with hope, to that everlasting life that awaits me there—when You call me to my forever home with You.

Don’t allow me to ever forget that there are consequences associated with everything that I do—for You are a Holy and Just God.

Keep me mindful that when I live for myself—living only to satisfy my own sinful nature—there are bad consequences that come as a result, just as there are good consequences that flow from my living in faithful obedience to Your Spirit.

Show me how the choices I make—that is, the seeds that I plant by my thoughts, words, and actions—will determine the kind of harvest that I will reap.  Help me to choose wisely.

Continue to caution me with the knowledge that, while You will forgive me and extend to me Your mercy and grace when I repent of my bad choices, there will always be consequences of my sin which still remain—consequences that can cause as much harm to others, as they do to me.

Help me live to please Your Spirit, so that I may reap the benefits of harvesting the best that You have for me here—in this world—and look forward, with hope, to that everlasting life that awaits me there—when You call me to my forever home with You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

To Ponder The Deeds Of The LORD

How amazing are the deeds of the LORD!
All who delight in him should ponder them.
Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty.
    His righteousness never fails.

—Psalm 111:2-3 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Oh, that I would faithfully ponder Your amazing deeds and reflect on Your glory and majesty, so that my mind would remain fixed on You—the only One who is the able to answer all of life’s many challenges!

Help me to rekindle that awestruck wonder I first had for the truly amazing and awesome things that You have done—both for me and for others—out of Your great love for all of us.

Don’t ever let my familiarity with the story that You have written on the pages of my life dull my sense of amazement for how You have been faithful to reveal Yourself to me—that I would experience Your never failing righteousness.

Help me to look for that which is amazing in the common place occurrences of my day—and give You all the honor, glory and praise that You deserve, for all You have done and are doing.

With great joy and excitement, help me look for opportunities to tell my story of Your goodness and Your faithfulness to me—so that others might hear and be in awe of how good You truly are, and be drawn to receive You for themselves!

Oh, that I would faithfully ponder Your amazing deeds and reflect on Your glory and majesty, so that my mind would remain fixed on You—the only One who is able to answer all of life’s many challenges!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
