and thanksgiving and honor
and power and strength belong to our God
forever and ever! Amen.”—Revelation 7:12 (NLT)
Eternal God,
Let the praise and worship I offer up to You—through the living out of this life I have been given—be made perfect, so that I am not tempted to accept for myself anything that should go to You alone.
For to You alone belongs
all wisdom, all power, and all strength, forever and ever—and for me to claim
that they exist within me in any way apart from You is to turn my worship away
from You and onto myself, making a god of myself.
Only You are worthy to
receive blessing and glory and thanksgiving and honor—for You have created and
established all that there is, and it is only by Your glorious wisdom, power
and strength that it still remains at all!
Therefore, help me always
turn every blessing, any glory, each expression of thanks, and all honor this
world may give, back into praise and worship of You—that Christ would be seen,
instead of me.
