The Peace That Comes From Christ

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

Colossians 3:15 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Help me to live in the peace that comes when I allow Christ to rule my heart.  And let me be forever thankful.

Though the storms of life in this fallen world rage all around me and the cold winds of change blow against me, You have given me the amazing privilege of allowing Your peace—the peace that comes from Christ—to rule and reign in me.

It is not a peace that anyone or anything in this world could ever give, but it is a peace that transcends all circumstances or situations I may face, and is a measure of my faith—a direct reflection of whether I truly believe You, and the promises I find in Your Word.

Only as I allow Your peace to live in my heart, can I live at peace with others in the body of Christ and do my part to bring unity within the church, so that, together, we can be a beacon of hope to a lost and dying world.

So, let my heart become so saturated with the peace of Christ that it flows from me, bringing peace to all those around me—so that You might be glorified in my life.

Help me to live in the peace that comes when I allow Christ to rule my heart.  And let me be forever thankful.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Completely Love God!

If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth.  But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him.  That is how we know we are living in him.  Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.

 —1 John 2:4-6 (NLT)

 Heavenly Father,

Help me to live in the truth—to obey all the commandments of Your Word as a demonstration of my sincere love for You—so I would be found truly alive in Christ, and so my life would be an acceptable and living sacrifice to You.

May any claim that I make that I “know you” be established as truth by my commitment to study Your Word and to be instructed in truth by Your Spirit—in order that I would fully know and understand, then carefully follow, all Your instructions and commands.

May my faithful obedience to You be an outflow of my love for You, as a fitting response to the amazing love that You passionately pour out over me—a love that is unending, unfailing, unrelenting, and far beyond measure.

Continue to work in me to make me more like Jesus—as You call me into an ever-deepening relationship with You and cause the character of Christ to be formed within me—so that my life would be a more perfect reflection of the life of Christ.

Help me to live in the truth—to obey all the commandments of Your Word, as a demonstration of my sincere love for You—so I would be found truly alive in Christ, and so my life would be an acceptable and living sacrifice to You.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Remain!

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.”

—John 15:4 (NLT)

Gracious Father God,

Let me continually and forever remain in Jesus Christ—for He is my Savior, my Lord, and the very source of my life.

Help me always to abide with Him—to inseparably link every aspect of my life to Him—and live in according to the Truth which He came to declare to us all, comforted by the knowledge that He will remain in me.

For it is only in Christ—through my openness to receive the full measure of grace and truth that He pours out over me—that I find everything that I need to accomplish every plan and purpose for which He has uniquely crafted and equipped me.

And without Him I cannot produce any good thing—I cannot fulfill Your will for me—and I cannot enjoy the privilege of being used to be a part of the great things that You are doing in the lives of those all around me.

So, help me to be fruitful—producing good works which are a reflection of Your amazing love, truth, and grace—so that others might see Christ in me and give You the glory, honor, and praise that You are due.

Let me continually and forever remain in Jesus Christ—for He is my Savior, my Lord, and the very source of my life.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Another Advocate

“If you love me, obey my commandments.  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.  He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.”

—John 14:15-17a (NLT)

Lord Jesus,

May I never fail to demonstrate my love for You, through my willing obedience to Your commandments, as I look to the Holy Spirit within me to guide me into all Truth.

Let my love for You be so much more than just words that I push carelessly across my lips without thinking. Rather let my words reflect my love for You—a love which permeates everything that I think, say, and do.

Help me to look to the Advocate the Father has given—the Holy Spirit—to be my Comforter when I am hurting; my Encourager when I am discouraged; my Counselor when I need guidance; my Helper when the work gets hard; my Strengthener when I need to take a stand; my Friend when I need to know I am never alone; and my Teacher when I need to hear and know the Truth.

Keep me sensitive to the promptings of Your Spirit—who lives within me, and never leaves me—so that I might not miss any good thing that You have for me along my journey to know You more intimately.

May I never fail to demonstrate my love for You, through my willing obedience to Your commandments, as I look to the Holy Spirit within me to guide me into all Truth.

In Your most Precious and Holy Name, Lord Jesus. Amen.

Grace and Peace

May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.  Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.  All glory to God forever and ever!  Amen.

—Galatians 1:3-5 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

No matter what might be happening in the world around me, help me to remain in the grace and peace that You have provided through the Lord Jesus Christ—in that assurance that Jesus gave His life to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.

I am so grateful that You always had a plan—even from before time began—for Jesus to give His life for my sins, so that I might be rescued from this evil world and no longer be crippled by the fear it brings.

Help me to remember that though I have not yet been rescued out of this present evil world, I have been rescued from its evil power over me—no longer bound by Satan’s lies, which enslaved me to sin, but free to choose to live my life in Christ and for His glory, honor and praise.

So let my life be a continual and ever-perfecting reflection of the One who saved me, a demonstration of my gratitude for all that He has done for me—as I live my life in the grace and peace of Christ and give You all the glory forever and ever!

No matter what might be happening in the world around me, help me to remain in the grace and peace that You have provided through the Lord Jesus Christ—in that assurance that Jesus gave His life to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Faith, Love, Hope

We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

—1 Thessalonians 1:3 (NIV)

My God and Father,

Make me ever mindful that a person’s best work is produced by faith, that a person’s most honest labor is prompted by love, and that a person’s strength to endure all things can only be inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Help me to remember to give thanks for those people that You have placed in my life whose best work is produced out of their absolute faith in You—for their example of steadfast faith, which challenges me to trust You more.

And to give thanks for those who emulate well Christ’s labor of love toward all those He died to save—whose example of Christ’s love in action, prompts me to love more deeply and express that love more completely.

And to give thanks for those whose endurance is made possible only by their hope in our Lord Jesus Christ—for their example of long-suffering, which inspires me to endure my struggles because of the hope that stands forever before me.

Make me ever mindful that a person’s best work is produced by faith, that a person’s most honest labor is prompted by love, and that a person’s strength to endure all things can only be inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Plans and Purposes

Many are the plans in a person’s heart,

but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

—Proverbs 19:21 (NIV)

Sovereign LORD,

Help me always to lift all my plans before You—with my palms wide open—as I submit my will to Your will, my plan to Your plan, and give my life over to Your perfect purpose.

You know every plan of my heart—before it is ever formed in my thoughts.

You know when I make my plans in perfect concert with Your will for me.  And You know when I make my plans without first considering or consulting You at all.

You know when I make my plans after much prayer and meditation on Your Word.  And You know when I make my plans despite what I have heard from You, in great foolishness and selfishness.

Yet regardless of all my plans, it is always Your purpose that prevails.

So, mold my plans to accomplish Your purposes and help me to have faith to believe that Your plans are always best—and that Your plans cannot be stopped.

And help me to remember that Your plans are always crafted with my best interest at heart—and for my ultimate good—a reflection of Your perfect and unfailing love for me.

Help me always to lift all my plans before You—with my palms wide open—as I submit my will to Your will, my plan to Your plan, and give my life over to Your perfect purpose.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

The Heart of Man Reflects the Man

As in water face reflects face,
so the heart of man reflects the man.

— Proverbs 27:19 (ESV)

Heavenly Father,

Show me my heart, that I may know the man that I am. Then make me more like Jesus.

Just as I might look carefully into still, clear water to see the reflection of my face on its surface, so may I carefully examine what my thoughts, words, and actions say about the condition of my heart—and how that reveals the man that I truly am.

Help me to see the places in my heart that I have not yet surrendered to the sanctifying power of Your Holy Spirit within me—and give me the strength and desire to give those places over to You, today.

Change me, so that the reflection of the man that I am in my heart will no longer resemble a man of this world but be a better reflection of a man who has a heart after Your own heart.

Show me my heart, that I may know the man that I am. Then make me more like Jesus.

In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
