Not Just Words, Truth!

Every word of God proves true.
He is a shield to all who come to him for protection.

—Proverbs 30:5 (NLT)

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for all the ways, in my own life, that Your words have been proven to be true—and for the comfort and hope that comes over me when I remember Your faithfulness to Your words!

Every day, help me to run to Your Word, the Bible, so that I can find the Truth that You have waiting there for me to discover, as by Your Spirit You reveal Yourself in Your words as the Way and the Truth and the Life—as You reveal Yourself as perfect Love, full of Truth and Grace.

Should I become discouraged, help me to look back and remember how in all my life Your words have always proven to be true—when I have put them to the test—and help me once again to determine in my heart to walk in the ways of obedience to Your Word.

Help me never to forget that You have provided this way to Truth out of Your great love for me—and that if I seek out Your Truth and apply it to my life, Your Word will become a shield to me, protecting me, providing for my every need and keeping me in perfect peace.

Thank You for all the ways, in my own life, that Your words have been proven to be true—and for the comfort and hope that comes over me when I remember Your faithfulness to Your words!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

More Space For You

There are six things the LORD hates—
    no, seven things he detests:
haughty eyes,
    a lying tongue,
    hands that kill the innocent,
a heart that plots evil,
feet that race to do wrong,
a false witness who pours out lies,
a person who sows discord in a family.

—Proverbs 6:16-19 (NLT)

LORD of my Heart,

Show me my heart, LORD, so that I can surrender to You any evil thing left within me—that there would be more space in my heart for You!

Help me to see any pride that is hidden there—any haughtiness or conceitedness, especially when it can be seen in my eyes as contempt for others—for I know that thinking more highly of myself than I ought while undervaluing others, is the place that sin begins.

Check me by Your Spirit within me, should any lie be formed in my heart—before it spills across my tongue—that my words would always reflect that I hold Truth as sacred in my life.

May there not be found in me any desire for the shedding of innocent blood, for cruelty or blood-thirstiness—for that is the way of my enemy—but help me to have precious reverence for the sanctity of life.

Expose any tendency to devise wickedness in my heart or to entertain or rehearse evil plans in my mind—that I might chose to meditate only on what is good and right.

Make my feet quick to run to do what is good, so that my feet will be kept from that which is evil.

Show me if I am about to bear false witness about someone else—that I would not be used as a tool of the enemy for his purposes.

And stop me from being a person who sows seeds of discord among my family—my brothers and sisters in Christ—that there may be unity within the body of Christ.

Show me my heart, LORD, so that I can surrender to You any evil thing left within me—that there would be more space in my heart for You!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

I Look To The LORD For Help

As for me, I look to the LORD for help.
I wait confidently for God to save me,
and my God will certainly hear me.

—Micah 7:7 (NLT)

God of My Salvation,

Help me not to look in any other place, or to anyone else, but only to You—for all my help surely comes from You!

Help me to wait—in quietness of spirit and in confidence of heart—for You to save me in whatever situation in which I find myself, because You are my salvation.

And help me to see Your hand at work on my behalf through every place and person that crosses the path that You lead me down—as You teach me more about Your ways and Your plan and purpose for me.

Still, let me cry out to You, for I know that You hear me—You know my every thought before I do—and when I come to You, You certainly hear me in order to answer the needs of my heart.

Help me not to look in any other place, or to anyone else, but only to You—for all my help surely comes from You!

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
