To Freely Worship In Prayer

In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.

—1 Timothy 2:8 (NLT)

Father God,

May my prayers always float freely to the throne of Your mercy and grace.

Help me to understand that You desire me to be able to freely worship You in prayer, no matter where I find myself, but especially in those places where I am joined with fellow believers.

You want me to be able to unashamedly lift up holy hands to You in prayer—hands not made holy by my own righteousness, but cleansed and made righteous by the blood of Jesus Christ, which was shed for me.

Help me to realize that my prayers can only accomplish their intended purpose, when I have allowed the love, peace and joy of the Holy Spirit within me, to drive out all anger from me and to put my heart at peace with others.

Help me not lose sight of the fact that my unrepentant sinfulness, my anger and any controversy that I allow to remain between myself and others, not only displeases You, but also encumbers my ability to pray.

May my prayers always float freely to the throne of Your mercy and grace.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
