Ever So Small, Ever So Loved

When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—
what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?

—Psalm 8:3-4 (NLT)

Creator God,

May I never cease to stand in reverent awe of Your immense love, power and greatness, which is ever on display for all to see.

As I consider the vastness of the universe which You created, the moon and the stars which You set in place, help me to keep in perspective my smallness when compared to all that surrounds me, so that I might never think more highly of myself than I ought.

May I always humbly acknowledge that all that I have and all I am is by Your hand alone—and may I never fail to show proper respect for the incomparable majesty of Your greatness.

But help me also to consider how great is Your love for me. For You made all there is for mankind’s sake, made humans in Your own image, placed us in the center of all You had made, and made us the focus of all of Your love and care.

May I never question my value to You—the One Who created all that there is for me—and may I always find my identity in You.

May I never cease to stand in reverent awe of Your immense love, power and greatness, which is ever on display for all to see.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
